Gator Investments, a national real estate company with a portfolio of retail, multi-family, and office properties in 22 states and Puerto Rico is seeking a Legal Assistant or Paralegal to join its legal department at its headquarters in Miami Lakes.
Job Duties:
·Prepare and review legal documents, correspondence and closing binders to assist with commercial real estate transactions, including leases, purchases, sales and financing.
·Coordinate title matters with title insurance companies and law firms on all stages pre- closing through post-closing.
·Coordinate and supervise due diligence for sales, acquisitions, and commercial loans.
·Assist with handling of commercial landlord-tenant issues.
·Assist with local governmental inquiries and lien searches.
·Form entities in connection with real estate acquisitions.
·Establish and organize files; monitor deadlines; input information into file database.
·Prepare summaries of key terms and critical dates for real property acquisitions.
·Assist attorneys in drafting leases, contracts, and correspondence.
·Coordinate discovery responses with outside counsel.
·Manage litigation calendar for mediations, discovery, and court hearings.
·Administer third party claims including initial review, internal communications, and coordination with insurers.
·Administer invoices for outside counsel fees and other litigation costs.
·Perform general clerical duties (photocopying, faxing, mailing, filing, etc.).
Minimum Requirements:
·3+ years experience in either law firm or in-house legal department as legal assistant or paralegal, preferably in commercial real estate, retail sector or with a property management company. Verifiable references and/or recommendations must be available upon request.
·Able to work under tight deadlines, handle multiple, detailed tasks simultaneously and prioritize appropriately.
·Superior written and verbal communication skills, including grammar and spelling. Must provide or be prepared to provide writing sample.
·Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
·Must have strong PC skills with Microsoft Office (especially Word, Excel and Outlook).
·Highly organized, results oriented and ability to work in a multi-functional team environment.
Desirable:
·Experience in claims administration or contract administration.
Hours: Monday – Friday 8:30 am – 5:30 pm. On-site only. Compensation: Commensurate with Experience. Benefits available.
