Job Description
Job Summary


The Quality Manager position entails comprehensive responsibility for the establishment and continuous enhancement of the corporate quality management systems in alignment with pertinent automotive and governmental standards. This vital role involves acting as a crucial point of contact between customers and the organization, with a primary emphasis on fostering personnel growth, optimizing the quality management system, minimizing non-quality costs (NQC), and surpassing customer satisfaction as measured by the Voice of the Customer (VOC) feedback.

Responsibilities
  • Develop strategic objectives for the quality team.
  • Assess the skill sets and developmental needs of subordinates, providing appropriate mentoring and support.
  • Stay updated on Corporate Quality requirements and incorporate them into the quality systems.
  • Conduct training sessions for operators on current procedures related to control plans, work instructions, and gauge instructions.
  • Coordinate responses to customer/supplier audits and assessments.
  • Conduct timely and comprehensive performance evaluations of direct associates and ensure the same for associates reporting under direct/indirect supervision.
  • Understand and interpret Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) data.
  • Generate, maintain, and distribute various reports (e.g., overdue Corrective Action Requests (CARs), deviations, Hold status, system health, customer/supplier scorecards, etc.).
  • Coordinate auditing and verification activities to ensure department/plant systems adhere to documented procedures and systems.
  • Manage document control activities within the department/plant.
  • Set departmental direction and hold individuals accountable for performance standards and strategic objectives.
  • Coordinate the implementation and maintenance of plant quality systems to comply with IATF 16949 and other industry standards.
  • Lead problem-solving initiatives for both ongoing production quality issues and new product launches (FRM).
  • Contribute input and facilitate continuous improvement activities using statistical and industry-standard tools.
  • Perform additional functions as directed by the leader that are not specifically outlined in this position description.
  • Assist the launch team with customer/supplier required documentation (e.g., PPAP, Control Plans, Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), etc.) as requested.
  • Perform Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (R&R) studies for new processes or engineering changes.
  • Initiate containment actions, such as GP-12 or third-party specific measures, to address quality issues.
  • Develop and support customer/supplier requirements such as Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
  • Facilitate the development of plant-specific policies, procedures, and instructions in alignment with corporate, customer, and industry quality standards.
  • Maintain necessary documentation in compliance with Shape Corp specifications for Document Control and accessibility.
  • Identify and train backup personnel to handle key tasks during absences.
  • Manage control plans, work instructions, and gauge instructions.
  • Participate in the establishment and maintenance of standardized quality systems such as International Automotive Task Force (IATF) and ISO.
  • Manage and supervise staff:
  • Collaborate with Customer/Supplier personnel to address and resolve quality issues and concerns.
  • Oversee activities related to monitoring customer/supplier portals and promptly resolving any issues.
  • Support and implement the Shape Excellence System (Expected Quality) initiatives.
  • Act as the advocate for customer needs within the department/plant.
