Job Description
A bit about us
Trek is an awesome place to work, with amazing benefits for all employees. We build only products we love, provide incredible hospitality to our customers, and change the world by getting more people on bikes. When you’re on our team, you’re taken care of, encouraged to learn and grow, and given lots of opportunities to do so. Give us your best, and we’ll give it right back. Sound pretty sweet? Then come join us!

Are you deeply committed to nurturing, guiding, and empowering exceptional teams? We're on the hunt for an individual who's ready to step up and lead the Trek helmet engineering team—a team dedicated to crafting world-class helmets. As the Engineering Manager, you will stand at the helm of shaping and achieving the ambitions of our helmet engineering squad, steering their development with a learn-fast, learn-smart approach.
In this pivotal role, you will collaborate closely on project specifications, interact with suppliers, manage budgets, and ensure the punctual delivery of products that resonate deeply with us. Your roles encompass a wide spectrum—providing mentorship, coaching, and fostering a climate of continuous growth, all while maintaining a steadfast focus on efficiency.
Roles, Abilities, and Knowledge:
  • Adaptable Virtuoso: You're equally comfortable working independently and thriving in highly collaborative environments.
  • Team Dynamo Igniter: You possess the ability to bring out the best in each team member, nurturing a collaborative and supportive atmosphere.
  • Project Accountability: You take ownership of the project responsibilities of your team, ensuring that their efforts are aligned and effective.
  • Technical Translator: Proficiency in articulating intricate technical concepts tailored to various audiences—whether it's management, marketing, legal, or beyond—is one of your key strengths.
  • Obstacle Overcomer: Challenges are just opportunities for you. You identify obstacles, surmount them, and keep the team moving forward.
  • Alignment Expert: You communicate adeptly with internal and external partners, ensuring that our products are in perfect alignment with project parameters.
  • Empowerment Maven: Empowering your teams with the necessary resources, knowledge, and tools to achieve triumph is second nature to you.
  • Driving Innovation: You're not just content with the status quo. You're a champion of product enhancement, always seeking ways to elevate our offerings.
  • Team Leadership Virtuoso: You possess a deftness for managing, leading, and inspiring teams of engineers, steering them towards excellence.
  • Relationship Architect: Building robust relationships with vendors is your forte, ensuring our supply chain remains strong and dependable.
  • Communications Maestro: Your communication skills are exemplary. You understand diverse perspectives, articulate your own ideas effectively, challenge concepts constructively, and swiftly align once decisions are made.
  • Project Management Nexus: You provide support to both your project managers and product managers, bridging the gap for seamless collaboration.
  • Cultivator of Growth: Your focus lies in fostering growth and mentorship within your team, ensuring that each member's potential is nurtured.
  • Continuous Improvement Champion: You're a fervent advocate for constant improvement, consistently exploring novel ideas, concepts, and methodologies to elevate our business.
  • Tech Tools Guru: Your prowess with Microsoft Office tools—Windows, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, Excel—is well-honed.
  • Visionary Outlook: You envision the future trajectory of the team—where we aspire to be and the roadmap to reach those heights.
Additional Desired Skills and Responsibilities:
  • Plastic Materials Expertise: Proficiency in working with plastic materials will be highly valued, ensuring you're well-equipped to lead our team in crafting top-notch products.
  • Consumer Product Development: Experience in consumer product development will be a significant asset, contributing to the breadth of your expertise.
  • Legal Support: Supporting the legal department with patents and related matters for new and existing products is an added responsibility.
Education/Training:
  • Advantageous Post-Grad Studies: Any post-graduate studies you bring to the table will be an added advantage, contributing to your expertise.
  • Academic Foundation: A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or an equivalent field is your starting point.
  • Engineering Luminary: You come with at least 3 years of experience in an engineering-oriented role, showcasing your leadership and management prowess.
If you're ready to embark on this exhilarating journey of leading an innovative and driven helmet engineering team, we eagerly await your application. Your leadership, paired with your commitment to learning, growth, and efficiency, will be the driving force behind our continued success.
