Job Description

Summary:
The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for providing quality services that ensure all products meet or exceed established quality standards. The Quality Assurance Manager has high-level responsibility for food safety and will continuously enhance processes through efficiencies while keeping the team focused on best-in-class industry standards. The Quality Assurance Manager will be responsible for demonstrating our Producers Dairy Core Values and carrying out our purpose of Nourishing Lives.
Essential Functions:

  • Ensures accurate goals and measures are in place and kept up to date for critical quality system KPIs in accordance with quality certifications and requirements.
  • Approaching work with a Continuous Improvement (CI) mindset, and engaging in Producers Dairy Mission Statement to identify, value, prioritize, resource and sustain improvement opportunities.
  • Coordinate the Quality System management review meetings, select and prioritize the discussions topics as a way to assure the Quality System is always aligned with Company’s objective.
  • Sensory evaluation of products during and at end of Shelf-Life.
  • Coordinate Quality benchmarking activities.
  • Ensure compliance with antibiotic testing of all incoming raw milk.
  • Maintain all proper documentation and records associated with responsibilities.
  • Oversee environmental pathogen swabbing, allergen testing and inventory within the facility.
  • Provides knowledge and support for process engineering, which includes research and development for new products and processes, troubleshooting current processes and quality problems, capability studies, and process improvement projects.
  • Maintain laboratory as needed with regular cleaning.
  • Owning and promoting a Safety Culture by ensuring a safe work environment and promoting proper safety behavior.
  • Maintain all documented information as per SQF requirements.
  • Works with marketing, sales, support and customers directly to understand and improve quality needs and experiences through timely resolution of complaints as well as proactive meetings, visits, tours and surveys.
  • Works with the operational teams to proactively develop preventative systems, continually improve processes to meet company directives and champion lean activities.
  • Other duties assigned
  • Lead quality program, direct standards, champion continuous improvement projects, and assist in planning and executing strategic roadmap.
  • Establish and monitor performance indicators for key programs of the Quality System, initiate corrective actions when required, and provide coaching and support of continuous improvement projects.
  • Microbiological testing as appropriate for raw materials, work in process, and finished products including: SPC, PI, TPC, Coliform, and Yeast/Mold.
  • Must follow all proper Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Equipment pre-operational inspection including ATP swabbing.
  • Coordinate with third-party laboratories as appropriate for sampling and testing.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Minimum:

  • Sensory experience (dairy products preferred)
  • Bachelor of Science in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry or other related field
  • Experience with Statistical Process Control analysis in food manufacturing environment
  • Finished Product and ingredient level Trace and Recall knowledge
  • Red Zone or other Electronic Data Platform
  • Experienced with Preserved Standard of Identities such as Kosher, GMO etc.
  • FDA Appendix N Antibiotic Trained
  • Managed Environmental Monitoring Program
  • Supply Chain Preventative Controls
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience working in a food laboratory environment (dairy/milk laboratory experience is preferred)
  • Good Laboratory Practices including Aseptic Sampling Techniques Trained
  • Strong understanding of Good Laboratory Practices, HACCP, and Microbiological practices.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $100,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
