Oversee engineering team personnel and work with the MK Metal Product organizations to develop engineering processes including Application, Design and Production. The Engineering Manager is expected to be team oriented and have a passion for MK’s mission, values, operating principals and have a responsibility for the customer satisfaction. He/She should demonstrate a high level of business savvy, initiative and team focus. This position requires prioritization and multi-tasking as well as information analysis. The Engineering Manager will be empowered to lead, manage, recruit and hold the team accountable.
Duties and responsibilities
• Manage Engineering Team: Application Engineering, Design Engineering and Production Engineering.
• Conduct weekly pipeline engineering meetings to drive goals and strategy.
• Process improvement on quoting process.
• Develop, update and maintain KPI-SMART Goals for the
engineering group relative to the other manufacturing teams.
• Establishes and maintains ISO disciplined documents/controls and procedures for engineering department.
• Works with production and manufacturing staff to identify improvements in production practices and maintain product supply.
• With help from department heads, create and maintain the development and implementation of goals, objectives and
procedures pertaining to the manufacturing operation.
• Work with MK marketing and sales teams to develop process
improvements.
• Develop product testing criteria for products.
• Responsible for cost estimating for new products.
• Obtain quotes for outsourced components for proprietary products. Orders first article of all items used in production.
• Monitor new products rollouts from pilot run to production.
• Review customer complaints / product issues in production and identify resolutions in conjunction with the manufacturing team.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering related field or equivalent relevant work experience.
• Minimum of 5 years manufacturing engineering experience
preferred, experience in a specialty manufacturing setting a
plus.
• Must have previous experience working with Solid Works, 3D
and 2D.
• Ability to travel when required. Between both plants Mansfield
and Smithville Ohio and Customer visits across the country.
Working conditions
• The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet the
employee works in an office environment with minimal
exposure to noise or adverse conditions.
• The employee is periodically exposed to moving mechanical
parts, elevated surfaces, airborne particles, heat, noise, and vibration.
Physical requirements
• This position is classified as Light work which means employees
must be able to regularly lift or move up to 10lbs and
occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
