Partner with the best
The Quality Assurance Lab Analyst/Technician performs chemical analysis of raw material, in-process, and finished product. They ensure that sample testing meets product specification requirements required for final products or for intermediates to be used in further processing. They provide the recommendations for in-process adjustments to reduce non-conformance of chemical batches. The role is specifically focused Drilling and Completion Fluids Product line within the Oilfield Services Portfolio of Baker Hughes.
You will be responsible for:
- Ability to understand and interpret, chemical reactions (production process tickets), chemical specifications and procedures.
- Actively participates and promotes safety and quality stop programs and facilitates investigations as required.
- COA’s – generate COA’s for outgoing products, for both middle road and the warehouse.
- Chemical Analysis & Approval – analyze intermediate samples and finished products. Includes analysis of Operations samples, Pilot Plant samples, External samples and Re-certifications. Communicate results and status of batches to the relevant parties.
- Spectroscopy – FTIR, UV/Vis, X-Ray
- Inspect Raw Materials – ensure that incoming raw materials and toll manufactured products meet specifications and inspect the COA and BOL for required information to confirm product identity and destination. Perform a visual check on incoming material when possible. Communicate approval/rejection of raw materials to middle road and/or relevant parties.
- If ever any HSE incident takes place, Stop Work and report immediately to your lead/supervisor/manager.
- StarLIMS – Enter testing results for products. Trouble-shoot and corrects errors.
- Wet Chemistry – titrations, pH, Density etc.
- If ever you see anyone around you performing an unsafe act or working in an unsafe condition, immediately Stop Work and report to your lead/supervisor/manager
- Adhere to the Qualified to Perform (QTP) program always as well as all other Quality requirements and exercise Stop Work at any time to ensure the job is done right, every time the first time
- SOP Reviews
- Documentation – Files production tickets hard copies and electronically.
- Keep work areas of the facility in a safe, clean and organized manner at all times in accordance with 6S Checklist
- Product Adjustments – Recommends adjustments and/or corrective actions to operations to correct off-spec material. Use calculations and/or lab blends to make determinations. Seek guidance from “on-call” chemist when necessary.
- Adhere to the on call/shift schedule; notify your lead/supervisor/manager immediately if any foreseen or unforeseen issue that would prevent you meeting your scheduled obligations.
- Drives quality culture to their plant.
- Lab Blends – make lab blends of products to assist in troubleshooting efforts or to determine the viability of raw materials making on-spec product.
Health, Safety and Environment
Actively participate in HSE programs as assigned
Complete HSE training as assigned.
Keep work areas of the facility in a safe, clean and organized manner at all times in accordance with 6S Checklist
If ever you see anyone around you performing an unsafe act or working in an unsafe condition, immediately Stop Work and report to your lead/supervisor/manager

- Have experience working as Lab Chemist for 3 years would be prefeed
- Experience with Chemical Analysis & Approval – analyze intermediate samples and finished
- Experience with products using chemical analysis testing methods
- Have experience working in a Lab and basic understanding of chemical specs and procedures
- Bachelor degree in Chemistry preferred
