YAI is seeking a Program Director of the Lanterman START Region to oversee a START program located in Los Angeles, CA and serving individuals in the Los Angeles metro area.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate trainings utilizing expertise of psychologists and psychiatrists, team leaders, and specialists within the community
• Supervise Clinical Director
• Establish community linkages
• Provide support as needed to clinical team 2 4/7/365
• Enter, monitor and assure data entry for all team members in the START Information Reporting System. Use data to inform programmatic decision-making.
• Collaborate with other members of the START leadership team to monitor quality of START service delivery and assure fidelity to the START model
• Participate in and complete the START Coordinator Certification training process
• Respond to requests from state agencies for data and program information
• Chair and coordinate the START Advisory Council
• Act as representative of the START team in the community
• Maintain communication with other regional START directors
• Serve as liaison to community network partners

Requirements

• A minimum of a master’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling or other human service field with 2-5 years’ experience working with people with IDD and behavioral health needs
• Prior experience as a START Coordinator and/or START clinical team leader preferred
• 5 years’ supervisory experience
• Experience collaborating with community service systems

Salary Range: $120,000 - $130,000K annually

Our Roots

YAI was launched in February of 1957 out of a small school in Brooklyn, New York. Initially staffed by Co-Founders Bert MacLeech and Pearl Maze MacLeech alone, their pilot program served just seven people. According to Bert, from its very beginning YAI has been dedicated to providing innovative services for the I/DD (intellectual and/or developmental disabilities) community. MacLeech envisioned a, “total life adjustment approach, emphasizing personal growth, social responsibility, employment goals, and the development of independence for the individual.” At a time when institutional living was the norm for people with I/DD, this vision was nothing short of revolutionary.

YAI Today

Today, YAI has a team of over 4,000 employees and supports over 20,000 people in the I/DD community. This extraordinary growth shows the ongoing need for these important services, and YAI’s success in offering them. YAI supports people with autism, Down syndrome, and Cerebral Palsy, among others. Operating throughout Downstate New York and Northern New Jersey, YAI now offers more than 300 programs for people of all ages.
