Job Description
Corporate Accounting Revenue Assurance team is looking for a skilled and motivated Product Revenue Recognition, Finance Manager to join the team. This is an accounting professional and a dynamic leader with a drive for people development, synthesizing complex and cross-functional collaboration.

The Corporate Accounting Reporting and Analysis team focuses on defining revenue recognition policy across products and programs, enhancing and consulting on system integration and design, researching GAAP revenue recognition questions and analyzing and reporting consolidated financial results.
This position provides a unique enterprise-wide view of the company from the financial core, high visibility to senior management across our business groups as well as a great team of 5-6 experienced professionals with which to lead, learn and share as we blaze a new trail for revenue recognition and reporting at Microsoft!

As a people manager, you will lead the team responsible for revenue policies for products across Microsoft with a focus on product knowledge. new product and program offerings, system integration and design, and partnerships with our product group controllership teams and licensing and sales finance teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the team that will be responsible for accurate and timely preparation of revenue backlog related disclosures and partner closely with Central Finance Team to support the timely and accurate reporting of external key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Lead the efforts to continue to strengthen the partnership with various internal financial communities to drive innovative and scalable solutions system solutions.
  • Leverage business/finance acumen and technical expertise to identify business capability gaps, document business requirements and prioritize the teams work based on the product roadmaps.
  • Lead and coach a team of 5-6 direct reports and perform as a functional subject matter expert (SME) role to others, demonstrating Microsoft’s leadership principles of creating clarity, generating energy and delivering success.
  • Lead a team responsible to ensure that the appropriate estimates and judgments, aligning with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), are applied to determine the revenue to be allocated to products and services within an offer.
  • Lead the team that has deep understanding of Microsoft products and services to facilitate proactive consultations and resolution of accounting issues with our business contacts and leaders. The team will work across various finance teams to determine and document accounting policy and positions on revenue recognition of all Microsoft products.
  • Lead the team of Product owners that reviewed product launches across all products including Server, Azure, Azure Hybrid, Dynamics, to ensure compliance with external reporting requirements of increasingly complex launches.

Qualifications


Required/Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting/Finance, or related field AND 7+ years accounting or finance experience
    • o OR Master's Degree in Business, Accounting/Finance, or related field AND 6+ years accounting or finance experience.
  • O OR Master's Degree in Business, Accounting/Finance, or related field AND 6+ years accounting or finance experience.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications
  • Proven financial and analytical, written and oral communications, and presentation of data skills
  • Negotiation and consensus building skills
  • Professional accounting certification such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated understanding of software products and technology industry business processes
  • O OR Master's Degree in Business, Accounting/Finance, or related field AND 9+ years accounting or finance experience AND 2+ years experience managing direct reports.
  • Must be a self-starter, well organized, adaptable, and able to multi-task and work well under pressure
  • Significant experience in software, technology industry a plus
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting/Finance, or related field AND 10+ years of accounting or finance experience AND 3+ years experience managing direct reports
    • o OR Master's Degree in Business, Accounting/Finance, or related field AND 9+ years accounting or finance experience AND 2+ years experience managing direct reports.
  • 9 years related work experience, preferably with some public accounting
  • Knowledge of GAAP accounting, preferably with technical revenue accounting expertise
  • Superb business partnering and cross-group collaboration skills
Accounting M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,200 - $194,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $142,200 - $213,200 per year.
