Job Description
Job Summary: OPSPro specializes in providing small businesses and government contractors with compliance and operational support to include HR, Payroll, Accounting, Contracting, and IT. The Payroll Team Lead position is a full-time, fully remote position. The primary responsibility for this position is to oversee, mentor, and develop a team of employees to deliver quality support within the client's timeframe and budget.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.


  • Process all off-cycle calculations and payments including bonuses, draws, reimbursements, garnishments, and any adjustments/corrections in a timely manner
  • Prepare and execute multiple payrolls with varying pay schedules in multiple states
  • Reconcile quarterly payroll tax filings
  • Act as liaison with payroll vendors to ensure tax filing compliance with local, state, and federal agencies
  • Perform other administrative duties and special projects as needed
  • Audit and fund HSA, Flex, Dependent Care and 401K contributions
  • Prepare payroll reports for internal and external audits
  • Perform banking functions: notify the bank of voids, stop payments and review notices regarding the inability to direct deposit to employee accounts
  • Strive to maintain payroll accuracy and improve efficiency
  • Develop and maintain written policies and procedures
  • Analyze, identify, and resolve paycheck discrepancies
  • Reconcile employee payroll benefit deductions with vendor invoices
  • Process support orders, garnishments, and tax levies within current federal and state regulations
  • Maintain current knowledge of applicable federal and state wage, hour and tax laws for multiple states
  • Process year-end taxable wage adjustments for W-2 processing and reporting
  • Process employee payroll related changes transmitted from HR, such as benefit changes
  • Conduct new state and local registrations: request income tax withholding and unemployment accounts
  • Prepare and validate content in payroll GL files for entry into company accounting systems and resolve issues when necessary
  • Review data from time-collection systems for accuracy before processing payroll


Supervision


  • Interview candidates following requisite training and policy requirements
  • Timesheet approval
  • Oversee, mentor, and develop a team of employees to deliver quality support within the clients expected timeframe and budget
  • Document and lead team performance


Requirements


  • Advanced analytical, technical and problem-solving skills and abilities
  • Basic understanding of general accounting
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Demonstrates active listening, critical thinking, sound judgment, and persuasion skills
  • Strong organizational, time management and prioritization abilities
  • Experience managing multiple clients or complex projects with demonstrated results
  • Ability to solve complex problems and deal with a variety of work situations
  • Experience with iSolved payroll software
  • Excellent communication skills
  • 5-7 years payroll experience
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines managing multiple priorities
  • Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential information
  • Proficient with other MS products (Internet Explorer, Outlook, Word)
  • Advanced experience and knowledge of payroll software and/or HR Information Systems
  • Understanding of Health and Welfare Benefits Administration including regulatory compliance
  • Understands and analyzes the impact of changing priorities and balances resources appropriately
  • Detail-oriented
