About The Team

Gorgias’ accounting team is looking for a Staff Accountant to assist with Operating Expense Accounting. This hire must not only work autonomously, but well within a growing team and company, in addition to communicating proactively, and taking extreme ownership of their work.

You will apply your knowledge in accounting to assist with month-end close activities, and you will also lead the management of the day-to-day administrative functions of the finance team.

As one of the primary accountants on the team, you have the opportunity to work closely with Controller, and accounting team to ensure all bookkeeping, tax, regulatory and legal requirements are met.

What You'll Do

• Assist with monthly financial results analytics
• Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations and supporting schedules, ensuring completeness and accuracy of applicable ledger accounts
• Prepare account schedule and journal entries for expense accruals and prepaid expenses and work cross-functionally with other internal stakeholders to obtain relevant information
• Consistently evaluate areas for process improvement and automation
• Assist in month-end close process and other assigned department-related tasks, as necessary
• Assist with external audit and tax requests

Who You Are

• Collaborative, high-energy professional with excellent communication skills
• In-depth knowledge of U.S. GAAP and experience working with internal and external auditors
• Exceptional ability to work collaboratively with internal staff and external vendors
• 3+ years of relevant Accounting experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and G Suite; Strong Excel skills a major plus (Pivot tables, nested formulas, indexing)
• Proficiency with NetSuite or other Accounting ERP systems is a plus
• A degree in Accounting from a four or five-year college program; a Master’s Degree is a plus
• High attention to detail and proactive self-starter who enjoys a fast-paced environment and an ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet pressing deadlines

Nice to have

• Big Four audit experience
• Previous experience at a fast-paced SAAS or start-up company
• CPA (or CPA track)
