Peninsula Orthopedic Associates has an opening for a full time medical intake/discharge coordinator and front desk associate. This is a challenging position that requires excemplary communication skills (both verbal and written), organizational ability, a strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
The Intake/Discharge Coordinator is responsible for greeting patients as they arrive and checking them in for their upcoming appointment using our intake software platform. The coordinator is responsible for ensuring that each patient has completed proper intake forms, and pays co-pays prior to their visit. Upon the completion of the patient's visit with their provider, the Intake/Discharge Coordinator will ensure each patient is provided with the appropriate orders, paperwork and follow-up appointments. Functions include, but are not limited to, reception (client and phone), maintenance of medical records, accounts maintenance, cash processing, information management and data entry.
Summary of General Duties:
- Create a warm & welcoming experience for our patients.
- Facilitate day-to-day front office operations– including (but not limited to) greeting patients, check in process, collecting payments, etc.
- Serve as a front-line point of contact for our patients, answer patient questions via phone, in-person and e-mail.
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Communicate with clinical staff regarding patient needs, preferences, and appointment details
- Efficiently schedule and confirm appointments
- Ensure all patients have completed the appropriate intake and consent forms
- Maintain up to date knowledge of accepted insurance plans
- Open main office doors by 8:00am and/or close main office doors by 5:00pm

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Basic understanding of human anatomy, specifically musculoskeletal
- Working knowledge of contracted insurance plans
- Critical thinking skills
- Excellent computer skills including Excel, Word, and Internet use
- Detail oriented with above average organizational skills
- Excellent customer service skills; communicates clearly and effectively
- Proficient use of CPT and ICD-10 codes
- Plans and prioritizes to meet deadlines
Position Requirements:
- Ability to maintain professionalism at all times.
- At least 2 years of experience in a professional office setting
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, professional demeanor
- 2 years’ experience in a medical related field required
- High School Diploma or GED
- Prior experience in a healthcare is preferred, but not required.
