Title: BBB Education Foundation Outreach Coordinator
Programs: Young Consumer Advocate Program (YCAP) and Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP)
Reports to:Jennifer Salazar, BBB Education Foundation Executive Director
Mission of Programs:
Young Consumer Advocate Program – Youth aged 16 to 22 are educated on their consumer rights, obligations and fraudulent schemes, with an emphasis on gaining the skills necessary to become contributing members of the community.
Senior Medicare Patrol Project (SMP) - Funded through a federal grant from Administration on Aging, this program uses volunteers to train Medicare beneficiaries about Medicare fraud, abuse and waste and the importance of reporting incidents to Medicare. If possible fraud, abuse, and waste is detected, our staff reports it to the proper Medicare control units.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
·Create educational presentations for youth on consumer rights, obligations, and fraudulent schemes, with an emphasis on gaining the skills necessary to become contributing members of the community.
·Make informative presentations to older adults to raise awareness of the latest schemes and scams.
·Develop network of places (high school/colleges/etc) to conduct presentations for the YCAP.
·Compilepresentation reports
·Assist Executive Director with annual BBB Awards for Excellence
·Attend fairs to distribute program information.
·Work closely with Executive Director and SMP Volunteer Manager on developing a program for youth volunteers.
·Assist in the development of an outreach program educating caregivers, caseworkers, benefit counselors and healthcare professionals about healthcare fraud.
·Entering data into national database as needed
·Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
·College degree or equivalent
·Microsoft Work, Excel, and Power Point
·Strong time-management skills and multitasking ability
·Microsoft Power Point
Skills and Experience
·Knowledge of consumer information and how it pertains to young adults.
·Knowledge/ability to learn Medicare and other health care programs, fraud and abuse issues affecting seniors, and learn programs and benefits for seniors.
·Good oral communication skills
·Active listening skills
·Ability to work independently.
·Ability to work and get along well with others from diverse backgrounds.
·Patience and persistence
·Ability to learn SIRS databases.
This position is dependent upon the funding received from the Administration on Community Living.
