Job Description

Summary:


Relay Graduate School of Education (Relay) is an accredited not-for-profit institution of higher education serving thousands of educators from across the country, from pre-service teachers to system-level leaders. Our mission is to ensure that all students are taught by excellent educators, in order to build a more just world where every student has a clear path to a fulfilling life.


Reporting to a Director in the Registrar’s Office, this role on the Registrar’s Office team will be responsible for supporting the implementation of the new credit for prior learning and transfer credit policies. This is an exciting opportunity to support a new policy that will expand equitable access to our graduate students and also contribute to enrollment and retention. First and foremost, the person in this position is responsible for collaborating with teammates to successfully implement these two new policies. In addition, this teammate will work across the Registrar’s Office to gain a strong working knowledge of Relay’s policies and to serve as support for various workflows.


Role’s Contributions (duties and responsibilities):


Policy & Process Development & Management:


  • Develop innovative, user-friendly systems to ease the requesting, evaluating, and awarding of student transfer credits from other institutions of higher education
  • Revise, implement, and support policy and procedural changes in alignment with the goals and vision of the Registrar’s Office
  • Maintains a strong working-knowledge of all student-facing Relay policies and procedures to support with collaboration and problem solving
  • Implement, maintain, and improve the business processes and communication resources necessary for students to receive credit for prior learning


Stakeholder Support & Management:


  • Provides top-notch customer service to troubleshoot, research, and resolve issues/concerns presented by students, staff, and partners related to transfer credits or credit for prior learning
  • Collaborate across teams, including with teacher prep teammates, advisors, and partner-facing liaisons, to ensure successful business process implementation & ensures student, staff, and partner satisfaction
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for student-facing policy- and process-related questions specific to credit for prior learning and transfer credits


Data Management:


  • Provide ongoing support to the registration team by processing student registration, re-enrollment/transfer applications, and other related registrar procedures to support a positive student experience and accurate student data
  • Document application evaluations for student academic files in the student information system


Other Duties:


  • Other (duties, projects, task) as assigned by the manager
  • Develop and maintain proficiency with Relay-specific platforms including, but not limited to our student information systems and learning management system in order to perform duties and responsibilities to enhance student experience and accurate student data


Qualifications


First and foremost, the manager must share the Relay community’s commitment to working together to improve student growth and achievement through phenomenal teacher preparation grounded in diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism. This includes providing teacher preparation programs that set novice teachers up to succeed in the classroom from day one; leadership programs that train new and veteran school and district leaders to best serve their school communities; and teacher-facing professional education that provides ongoing learning to educators. Additionally, for this position we’re looking for candidates that possess a combination of the following skills:


  • Proven knowledge of the enrollment cycle and related processes in higher education
  • Experience maintaining and updating student records with a high degree of accuracy
  • Excellent collaboration skills
  • At least 3 years of work experience
  • Embody the spirit of Registrar's vision, mission, and values in daily activities
  • Experience developing and maintaining business processes
  • Strong customer service orientation, including exceptional oral and written communication
  • Experience using technology to increase efficiency
  • Proficiency with Smartsheet
  • Familiarity with transfer curriculum issues and practices
  • A high level of organization and ability to work efficiently and independently on multiple tasks

Compensation


Relay is committed to creating and maintaining a compensation and benefits system that supports our ability to recruit and retain a diverse and talented team. As we make decisions about compensation, we will be guided by the following values: clarity, consistency, and internal equity. The salary range for this role is $74,250 to $111,375. New hires will be offered a salary at the starting point of the range to allow for an equitable starting salary process and continual salary growth during an employee’s time at Relay GSE.


To ensure internal pay equity:


  • Relay does not currently differentiate starting salary offers based on years of experience
  • All staff salaries will be capped at the salary range maximum, and
  • Relay does not negotiate salary offers.

WORK LOCATION POLICY


Employees must have a primary work location within the U.S., where they are legally authorized to work. Relay is a registered employer in the following states: California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington State and Washington DC. Please note that Relay Graduate School of Education's headquarters are in New York City. Employees who choose to perform work from states not listed here will be subject to NYC state withholdings.
