The Role
The Manager Payroll – Global Time is responsible for delivering timely and accurate payroll, providing superior customer service, and contributing to the overall business impact at Lumen. The Manager Payroll – Global Time oversees a team of individual contributors responsible for day-to-day payroll operations as well as system updates, compliance, and implementation of payroll enhancements.
The Main Responsibilities
- Responsible for reviewing, overseeing testing and approving configuration changes to the time and attendance application to meet complex requirements including pay rules, attendance, accruals, and advanced scheduling.
- Lead a staff of 5 to ensure accurate and timely processing of related tasks and requests.
- Responsible for managing the global time reporting process: NAMER, EMEA, and APAC.
- US - 25,000 employees with 12 represented groups
- Canada - 150 employees
- EMEA - 4 Countries with about 300 employees
- APAC - 8 Countries
- Functional subject matter expert for time, attendance and pay practices and policies.
- EMEA - 4 Countries with about 300 employees

- Understands FLSA regulations for overtime calculations for both the weighted average and rate-in-effect methods and advises when business requests conflict with compliance.
- APAC - 8 Countries
- Canada - 150 employees
- Responsible for establishing a standardized, strategic approach to payroll operations and reporting, including the design, testing and implementation of Payroll system tools in cooperation with HR and finance partners.
- Take leadership role in developing and overseeing training provided by the payroll team.
Additional Responsibilities
- Must stay current on regulatory changes impacting the payroll area, including industry and country specific rules and regulations.
- Develops and maintains policies and procedures related to Time and Attendance within the Payroll department.
- Resolving payroll issues and fixing errors quickly and with a sense of urgency.
- Ensures that payroll and tax filings are processed accurately and timely.
- Manage various payroll vendor relationships and assist with contracts.
- Problem Resolution: Address and resolve payroll-related inquiries from employees and management.
What We Look For in a Candidate
- Experience with Workforce Software preferred.
- Bachelors degree or equivalent education and experience.
- 5 - 7 years payroll specific experience and 2+ years' experience at manager level.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
- A high level of discretion and integrity when handling sensitive employee information or projects.
- Knowledge of related payroll compliance, rules and regulations in NAMER, EMEA and APAC (including India).
- Familiarity or experience with SAP SuccessFactors preferred.
- Experience with SAP preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of payroll legislation and tax rules and regulations within the United States.

This position is eligible for either short-term incentives or sales compensation. Director and VP positions also are eligible for long-term incentive.
