Messika USA is hiring a Logistics & customs coordinator based in New York.
The Goal :
Messika USA is distributed in retail stores, in multiple wholesaler accounts and via E-commerce. The company has a strong expansion plan over the coming years, which includes building a team of highly motivated, ambitious individuals who will contribute to the continued growth and development of the brand in the American Market.
The aim of the Logistics & customs coordinator is to support and facilitate all workflows pertaining to distribution and transportation of jewelry and non-valuable goods within the American market. This role will help ensure business objectives are reached with maximum efficiency and organization in collaboration with Paris HQ, and all US departments including Retail, Marketing, VM, Events, Inventory, Sales, and Customer Service. The mission pertains to all product categories (jewelry, high jewelry, packaging, other non-valuable items).
Key Responsibilities
Organizational/Administrative
- Review and monitor invoices related to shipping and customs to track overall costs associated
- Compile all historical records and record all future shipping records for auditing purposes
- Monitor stock level of non-valuable goods to ensure adequate stock levels in coordination with Marketing, VM, and Store Planning (locally + with HQ)
- Develop and implement best-practices for import/export of goods in collaboration with HQ
- Optimize logistics flow to reduce overall shipping costs
- Establish best practices for non-valuable order management and distribution in alignment with global objectives
- Place orders on 3PL platform to facilitate distribution of non-valuables in American market in collaboration with Customer Service, Visual Merchandising, Events, and Marketing
- Support execution of off-site events by coordinating relevant logistics + security aligned with HQ requirements and policies
Transportation
- Collect data from transport vendors to track, analyze, manage, and report on: Overall costs, Carbon footprint...
- Act as liaison between US subsidiary and all transport vendors (valuable + nonvaluable, 3PL)
- Ensure on-time deliveries of non-valuable goods from 3PL warehouse to final destination
- Coordinate logistics for all valuable/non-valuable shipments for : events and press/marketing commitments, store construction and installation projects, Visual Merchandising projects, Trade shows...
Customs
- Maintain historical records pertaining to imports/exports
- Clear incoming shipments with customs in collaboration with brokers and HQ (valuable/nonvaluable) : Lacey Act, TSCA forms, Fish and Wildlife, etc
- Track and document all incoming and outgoing TIB (valuables)
- Prepare export documents for shipments departing US (TIB, repairs, sold merchandise)
- Ensure all temporary imports are managed according to the law and exported within allowable time limit
Basic Requirement
- Knowledge of customs regulations
- A collaborative team player who enjoys working in a cross-functional team environment.
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills
- French is a plus
- Strong communication skills
- Impeccable organizational skills with strict attention to detail
- At least 3 years of working experience in transportation/logistics (preferably in luxury retail)
- Flexible in adapting to changing priorities
- Bachelor's degree
- Proficient in all Microsoft Office with advanced proficiency in Excel
- Excellent command of written and spoken English
- Demonstrated competencies in logistic flows
