The Opportunity
We are seeking a dedicated Investment Operations Analyst I to support USAA’s Chief Investment Office through work assigned by the CFO Investment Operations department with a focus on pricing. You will work directly with investment partners such as Governance, Institutional Traders, Strategist and Accounting, as well as, Asset Managers, Technology Teams and Lines of Defense.
This position is a hybrid work type and can be based in one of the following locations: Charlotte, NC or San Antonio, TX. Hybrid roles help employees gain the best of both worlds – collaborating in-person in the office and working from home when needed to achieve focused results.
What you'll do:
- Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
- Assists with Control testing and audits. Identifies opportunities and recommends potential solutions.
- As a subject matter expert, detects errors, researches, determines cause and partners with Portfolio Strategists, Traders, and Investment Accounting areas or senior analysts for resolution.
- Serves as a resource to team members on escalated issues of a routine nature. Approves peer or subordinate work.
- Works with Custodian banks to resolve trade settlement issues or securities collateral movements.
- Responsible for independently valuing moderately complex new securities and completing securities transactions data entry (sector, security type, collateral type, issuer, obligor, sponsor, guarantor).
- Corrects moderately complex trade data problems. Notifies Compliance, traders and portfolio managers of any compliance violations as required by compliance/regulatory requirements.
- Corrects security master data when errors are reported and performs peer reviews.
- Responsible for regulatory reporting and processes corporate actions.
- Diagnoses and investigates system and data problems and determines root cause of errors. As needed partners with IT, software vendors and senior team members to solve issues.
What you have:
- Knowledge and application of Securities laws and regulations.
- Experience with investment control testing or audits.
- Bachelor’s degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
- Experience with Microsoft Office to include Excel, Word and Outlook.
- 4 years of experience in investment operations or middle office functions within the financial services industry.
What sets you apart:
- Experience with analyzing investment & market data
- Professional experience and familiarity with valuation procedures across all asset classes (equity, fixed income, derivatives, structured products)
- Achieved or have progress toward professional designation preferred (MBA, CFA, CPA)
- General investment accounting knowledge or experience

What we offer:
Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $65,090 - $124,330 .
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
