Inspector (Building) - Labor Grade 114 / Pay Range: $21.64 - $30.50

SUMMARY

The Building Inspector works under the direct supervision of the Inspector Supervisor. The Building Inspector is responsible for the inspection of all buildings and construction sites as necessary for compliance with the parish’s ordinances.

MAJOR DUTIES

• Must be able to become familiar with ordinances and code regulations to interpret and direct enforcement on behalf of the parish
• Any other duties as assigned
• Serve as subject matter expert regarding building codes and respond to inquiries from customers and the public
• May be required to map routes for other inspectors
• Perform building inspections on current buildings and new construction necessary for compliance with the parish’s ordinances

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

• Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED equivalent and (1) year of related experience is required

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS – CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

• The incumbent is subject to a pre-employment physical and drug test with random drug testing thereafter
• The incumbent must have the ability to obtain and maintain all required certifications. Certification as an

Inspector by the International Code Council in one discipline required for specific code enforcement as required under State Law within one year of hire date.
