The HR Assistant will be charged with a variety of Human Resources-related tasks. The main expectations for this role include identifying staffing needs, creating job ads, utilizing various staffing platforms to source quality candidates, screening and interviewing candidates, and onboarding, while also providing administrative support within the HR department. An important part of this position will be to act as the liaison between HR and employees, providing support to the management team as needed, and ensuring smooth communication and prompt resolution of requests and inquiries. Additional skills utilized include excellent organizational ability, familiarity with HR software, and strong communication skills. The ideal candidate for the position must have Human Resources experience in our industry, exercise sound judgment, respect confidentiality, and be an honest, trustworthy team member. This candidate should be flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced and changing environment. You will occupy an integral role by adding to the organization, operation, and functionality of the recruitment process, helping to attract prospects, increase retention, and ultimately grow the business toward an exciting future.
Responsibilities
- Create and post job ads to source potential candidates.
- Coordinate communication with candidates and schedule interviews
- Conduct initial orientation for newly hired employees.
- Administer NYS DOL required Sexual Harassment Prevention Training Course for all companies.
- Employee/Manager relations
- Monthly reporting for auditing and evaluating employee statuses.
- Handle employee inquiries regarding human resources-related issues, rules, and regulations
- Compile and update employee records
- Unemployment review, contests, and hearings
- Communicate with public services when necessary (donation requests, etc.)
- Assist with day-to-day operations of HR functions and duties.
- Process documentation relating to personnel activities such as staffing, recruitment, training, grievances, performance evaluations, and incident/accident reports.
- Provide clerical and administrative support to Human Resources executives.
- Employment verifications
- Maintain the onboarding process including new hire documentation.
- Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations including maintaining updated employment forms (W4 Federal, 2104 State, I9, mileage rates, employee calendars, etc.)
Requirements and Skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Basic knowledge of labor laws
- Ability and flexibility to work from multiple locations when necessary (Required)
- High School diploma or GED (Required)
- Degree in Human Resources (Preferred)
- Strong communications skills
- Computer literacy and typing skills (MS Office, Word, Excel etc.)
- Proven experience as a Recruiter/HR Assistant, or relevant human resources/administrative position (Required)
- Familiarity with payroll software
Schedule
- Monday – Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm
