Job Description
Ownershift is a for-profit, mission-driven acquisition company focused on expanding employee ownership at enterprises across the country, empowering workers to build wealth through ownership stakes in the value they help to create day in and day out. Ownershift partners with retiring owners of small businesses, as we aim to be the buyer of choice through quick, efficient acquisitions. We then transition those companies to employee ownership over time.

We create a win-win-win scenario for retiring owners, company employees, communities, and investors. Owners retire with a secure financial position and legacy, employees participate financially in the success of their business with a clear path to meaningful wealth creation, communities retain valuable, longstanding businesses, and investors generate strong financial returns.

The Head of Leadership Development will focus on designing, building and executing two distinct programs aimed at maximizing the organizational effectiveness and overall employee experience within Ownershift portfolio companies. The first initiative involves creating a training and development program for portfolio company Presidents/CEOs, including an in-depth pre-placement educational series, alongside ongoing professional support. The second initiative targets education and development for the broader group of employee-owners across portfolio companies. You will help employees understand the value of employee ownership and educate them about value creation opportunities within their company, alongside trainings on professional development. As one of our early hires, you will play a critical role in setting the vision and building the leadership development roadmap to enhance leader capabilities, while maximizing the wealth creation potential for employee-owners at a broad set of small businesses across the country.

How you'll make an impact:

  • Establish near- and longer-term development strategies for employee-owners at all levels across portfolio companies
  • Design and deliver our development program for senior leaders, as well as our educational program for all employee-owners
  • Implement data systems to measure the efficacy of training and development programs
  • Partner with Talent team to build a pipeline of high-quality prospective portfolio company Presidents/CEOs
  • Partner with Product and Engineering teams to build scalable digital learning tools
  • Serve as a leadership coach / thought partner to portfolio company Presidents/CEOs
  • Lead special projects associated with long-term planning and strategic initiatives

What you'll bring to the table:

  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-moving environment
  • Data-driven orientation to decision making
  • Experience building operational processes and establishing clear, ambitious KPIs
  • 8+ years of progressive experience as an architect or practitioner in leadership development
  • Ability to influence senior executives
  • Substantial experience with development/support programs for senior leaders
  • Background designing and implementing training initiatives from scratch
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Expertise with digital learning software and practices

Beyond the paycheck:

As an early employee, you will be a critical part of our core team and influence the direction of the company. We offer competitive compensation, early-stage equity, a full suite of benefits, and we will invest in your career development.
