The Multimedia Creative Designer supports TxDOT's Internal Communications team goal to inform and engage the Department's nearly 13,000 employees across the state of Texas through highly creative and engaging visual communications. This individual works as a digital storyteller across print, digital and beyond. They will serve as the point person for graphics and visual design work for all Internal Communications projects, while adhering to TxDOT's overall brand guidelines.
Essential Duties:
Education: High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies.
Experience: 9 years professional design and graphics experience in an advertising agency, government agency or other corporate setting. (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated part time equivalent). College education and/or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Essential Duties:
- Create and maintain graphics and upload digital assets in content management system Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) for agency intranet website and digital displays
- Design page layout, cover design, and graphics for TxDOT's internal print publications
- Collaborate with Creative Services section to ensure all designs adhere to agency brand guidelines
- Concept, create and manage all digital and print design for TxDOT's internal communications· Responsible for ensuring all internal communication properties have a cohesive aesthetic and follow visual identity guidelines
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Design a variety of content types including but not limited to: print publication layout, digital kiosk displays, animations, illustrations, email and infographics
- Prepare presentations for executives
- Lead visual strategy, project planning from timeline and workflow management, budgeting and communication with stakeholders
- Create and edit videos and animations for use on internal television network

- Successful track record of managing projects both independently and as part of a team; ability to use art and design to make complex ideas or information easy to understand
- Firm understanding of best practices for modern communications and visual design as it relates to the use of content, digital channels, websites, video animations and printed magazines etc.
- Expert in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere) and other leading design software
- Submit link to online portfolio
- Experience with website content management systems
- Valid driver’s license.
- Associate degree or higher
- Knowledge of web accessibility (WCAG 2.0. A, AA, etc.)
- Experience with videography, photography and lighting skills
- Degree in Design, Media Production, UX, Fine Arts, Communication Design or related discipline
- Current knowledge of industry guidelines and procedures on print design and production
- Ability to manage design projects from beginning to end and meet deadlines
- Strong understanding of visual marketing and stays up to date with design trends and shifts
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams in a professional manner
- Current knowledge of industry guidelines and procedures on website, animation graphics, storyboarding and video editing
- Self-starter requiring limited daily management from supervisor
- Repetitive Motion-substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
- Close Visual Acuity; view a computer screen
- Sedentary work: Lift up to 10 lbs at a time and occasionally carry files/small tools
