Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Graphic Designer is a seasoned design expert that leads, develops, and produces large, highly visible marketing collateral, advertising, and brand promotional materials, including in-store graphics, direct mail, brand identity, retail store activations, and packaging. This designer delivers consistent quality, accurately reflecting the brand. This position collaborates with internal team members and external vendors and communicates design process and elements in a clear, concise, and objective manner to the Marketing leads. The Senior Graphic Designer manages multiple concurrent projects and deadlines, delegates production tasks to freelancers as needed, and helps develop processes for the design team and standardized protocols.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
The Senior Graphic Designer will report directly to the VP, Creative Director.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides design and graphic support and direction for marketing and Web initiatives (e.g., online toolbox, packaging, merchandising, marketing events, displays, point of sale materials, presentations, sales materials, etc.)
  • Documents stylistic rules appropriate for the brand, the medium, and the audience, including color palette, typography, and logo-wordmark guidelines.
  • Determines the layout, visual appearance, and usability of creative solutions to align with the creative brief and target market.
  • Evaluate the brand's visual language (e.g., color palette, logo, font, etc.) across various media.
  • Creates conceptual layouts in accordance with design principles (e.g., color, typography, photographic selection, etc.) for the brand, elements, and usability.
  • Works closely with the Creative Director (or project lead) to create inspiring and strategically driven campaigns.
  • Documents work in a timely manner and within the proper archival protocol for team access (e.g., correspondence, files, drawings, etc.)
  • Identifies and coordinates creative activities to ensure stakeholders’ requirements are met on time and within budget while aligning with the creative brief criteria, brand guidelines, and design standards (e.g., quality, etc.)
  • Collaborates with the creative team to develop and implement design solutions and ensure the brand's successful representation (i.e., cohesive messaging and consistent branding) across all media.
  • Performs print production tasks, including but not limited to downloading files, Photoshop, and preparing files for print and color correction.
  • Creates storyboards by identifying the range of elements to be used, the story to be told, etc.
  • Establishes the conceptual and stylistic execution for projects and campaigns to ensure adherence to brand guidelines and design standards.
  • Creates inspiring, strategic, and innovative ideas and presents creative solutions to ensure the design meets the business objectives and remains on-brand.
  • Develops, refines, and recommends enhancements for the creative platform for Web.
  • Leads and advises the internal team in the creative process and project management to foster stronger working relationships and solutions (freelancers, team designers, interns, etc.)
  • Directs and assists with photoshoots, location visits, and other stages of the creative development or production process.
  • Interfaces with stakeholders to determine objectives, budget, background information, presentation approaches, styles, and techniques.
  • Develops branding elements, including digital, outdoor, print, social media, collateral and promotional materials, and in-store signage from concept to pre-press to production.
  • Monitors the timing, integrity, and quality of deliverables for multiple projects simultaneously from inception through the creative process to the execution of all materials.

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

Requirements for the position
To fulfill this role, the Senior Graphic Designer will possess a broad range of business knowledge and leadership skills, including:

Education and Experience
  • Hands-on experience with image editing software, like Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.
  • Familiar with Figma and or another similar program is a plus (sketch, Adobe XD). Attention to visual details.
  • BSc degree in Design, Visual Arts or relevant field is a plus but not necessary.
  • Portfolio of completed design projects.
  • Strong aesthetic skills with the ability to combine various colors, fonts, and layouts.
  • Proven work experience as a Senior Designer, Graphic Designer, or similar role.
  • Proficient in design software (e.g., Adobe InDesign or similar).
  • Ability to meet deadlines and collaborate with a team.
