Genetic Counseling Assistant Jobs

• Provides excellent service to both internal and external customers by applying best practices and standard operating procedures.

• Obtains applicable records and results from outside providers and laboratories.

• Acts as a liaison between clinical team, insurance companies, laboratories and patients.

• Communicates with families to obtain records, insurance prior authorization, consent forms, sample collection, and updates to families at the direction of clinical staff.

• Completes patient information on lab requisition forms for genetic testing, maintain supply of test kits and send kits to families when needed. Assist with lab tracking.

• Assists with incoming calls and scheduling appointments as needed.

• Assists with creating letters, submission and tracking of insurance prior authorizations.

• Assists with triaging referrals and general inquiries.

• Contacts patients with routine normal test results as directed by the clinical team.

• Documents conversations in the medical record as appropriate.

• Assists with data entry and maintenance of the department database.

• Participates in ongoing research activities of the program.

• Performs other duties as required or assigned.

• Associate’s degree; Bachelor’s degree in biology or a science field preferred.

• Excellent communication skills required.
