Job Description
Circuit of The Americas (COTA) is a 365-entertainment destination for world-class events located in Austin, TX. The sports and entertainment portfolio at COTA is unmatched in the country with Formula 1 US Grand Prix, NASCAR, and MotoGP attracting global fans during championship races on the famed Circuit and LiveNation producing over 30 headline concerts every year at the Germania Insurance Amphitheater.
The food service team at Circuit of the Americas (COTA) is seeking a Food & Beverage Director to provide leadership to the Food Service team. This position will be responsible for leading and overseeing day-to-day operations. This position will hold oversight of events, staffing matrixes, hiring, inter-departmental communications, logistics/operations, and financial management. The ideal candidate has a strong background in food & beverage leadership, is detailed in budget management, and has a passion for upscale event execution.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee Food & Beverage operations, including the café, sports & entertainment facilities, large-scale special events, and catering opportunities.
  • Set comprehensive goals for department performance and growth.
  • Looks for methods to improve quality, efficiency, and productivity, reduce costs, increase profits, or improve control measures.
  • Performs other related duties as needed.
  • Hold staff accountable for the fulfilling job description, conduct performance reviews of direct reports and ensure timely hourly reviews, coach, and follow company guidelines for documentation of any lack of performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Responsible for managing and participating in interviewing new employees, developing strategies for developing talent at all levels, and coaching organizational leaders.
  • Organizing frequent meetings and open lines of communication with sales, operations, and culinary teams.
  • Design and implement business operations to ensure maximum efficiency and profitability.
  • Monitoring the team and event schedule including reporting status, progress updates, and identifying areas that require corrective actions.
  • Lead employees to encourage maximum performance. Evaluate performance based on set expectations, data, and metrics.
  • Foster a growth-oriented, positive, and encouraging environment while keeping employees and management accountable to company policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Provides timely, accurate, and complete information on the operations and finances of the department.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure safety and sanitation standards are met.
  • Practice an open-door policy for employee grievances or dissatisfaction, documenting and addressing, and escalating, as needed, appropriately and timely.
  • Monitor customer feedback and implement improvement strategies.
  • Forge strategic partnerships and relationships with clients, vendors, agencies, venue partners, and all other professional business relationships.
  • Train and evaluate staff performance and provide feedback and disciplinary action when needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Possess the necessary interpersonal skills and demeanor for maintaining a safe, equitable, and inclusive work environment.
  • Must live near or be willing to relocate to Austin, TX
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Hospitality, Management, or Culinary related field AND/OR 6+ years of experience in Hospitality Operations, Event Coordination, Operations Supervisor, or equivalent
  • Must be a team player, well organized, and have strong computer/Microsoft Office skills.
Specialized Qualifications
  • Renowned time management skills
  • Strong Customer Service skills with the desire to go above and beyond a client's needs.
  • Knowledge of Food Service Operations
  • The ability to work alone and as a team.
  • Knowledge of POS Systems, specifically Square is highly preferred.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills
Work Environment
This position breakdown will be a variety of office work and event operations. Office work entails computer usage, interdepartmental meetings and communications via email, phone, and in person, and sorting and filing paperwork. Events may be in an outdoor setting with movement between temporary structures, buildings, and different terrains.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, such as but not limited to, lifting approx. 25 lbs.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Periods of standing, moving through an event space and traveling from venue to venue with bending, lifting, scooping, and carrying miscellaneous equipment and food items
