Job Description
Kearney & Company is currently seeking a Financial Resource Consultant with the ability to provide financial support, apply critical thinking skills, knowledge, and has experience with federal financial reporting. Uses technical, financial, and analytical skills, and expertise in financial management to support efforts to provide quality information, and to enable the client to demonstrate fiscal responsibility, accountability, and regulatory compliance and promote the efficient use and good stewardship of resources.
Additional skills and responsibilities are defined below:
  • Applying, the concepts, principles, practices, laws, and regulations of budgeting and financing.
  • Attend internal Corporate Events and or seminars
  • Experience in monitoring and executing funding documents to include inter-agency agreements, purchase requests and other procurement documents.
  • Participate in team problem solving efforts and offer ideas to solve client issues
  • Providing advice and expertise in applying the standards of practice to budgeting, accounting, finance, and acquisition.
  • Working knowledge of Federal accounting processes that is appropriate for conducting reconciliations (Federal/Non-Federal documents, Cash, Grants), database entry and query, financial data analysis, researching abnormal balances, advances, TIER and accounting period closures.
  • Preferred experience with working in FSMS.
  • Participate in business development opportunities for the company
  • Be client facing while supporting submission of status reports, meetings and deliverables
  • Serves as an advisor (intermediate) to customer’s program and financial management teams in a variety of capacities.
  • Knowledge of analytical processes that is appropriate for conducting cost-benefit analysis, depreciation, pro-ration of revenues and costs, and identification of trends in the use of funds.
  • Manage deadlines with evolving requirements, prioritizing based on client risks
  • Technically proficient in using the advanced functions of Excel (i.e., pivots, conditional formatting, lookups, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of governing Federal budgetary processes, procedures, policies, and regulations to assure that the budget forecasts, estimates, and submissions conform to requirements, guidelines, and financial objectives.
  • Support proposal writing
  • Remain compliant with continuing professional education requirements
  • Analyzing and comparing budgets and programs actions to identify the best use of funds.
  • Adhere to project schedules, action logs, and dashboard reports, maintaining a list of ongoing and future activities
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years direct experience in federal/state government
  • Bachelor of Science or Arts - Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics or a relevant field
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance (requires U.S. citizenship)
  • Advanced MS Office Suite (e.g., Excel, Word, Teams, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Ability to analyze financial data, identify data anomalies, and define approaches to resolve discrepancies
  • Ability to travel up to 25% as required for client and company activities
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Financial Management policies and procedures
  • Experience with Tableau data analytics software
  • Experience with federal financial reporting
  • Experience in a federal consulting environment
  • Experience with working in Oracle Federal Financials

The expected salary range for this position is between $80K and $125K. This range is representative of base pay only and does not include straight time pay for hours worked over 40 per week, company contributions towards paid benefits, and/or bonuses. Actual compensation (meeting or exceeding the range) will be determined based on specific experience, education, work location, clearance level, and other factors permitted by law. This position is eligible for bonuses (when applicable).
