The Oncology Clinical Implementation Consultant is responsible for leading customer implementations as a project clinical lead. This role will have the ability to clearly understand customers’ business objectives and drive the project towards those objectives through clinical workflow analysis and optimization. This role combines clinical experience with the ability to leverage advanced technology to address and solve complex challenges facing healthcare provider organizations today such as workflow optimization, healthcare organization transformation and the shift from volume-based care to value-based care.


Clinical Implementation Consultant


Core Responsibility


  • Technical responsibilities may include evaluation of business processes, recommending process changes, process documentation, problem identification, database and system configuration, hardware/software specification and/or design, change management, testing recommended strategies, identifying training needs and solution deployment.
  • Assisting our customers in developing best practice clinical operations with an emphasis on focused patient outcomes, patient care efficiencies, cost containment/reduction, and customer value propositions.
  • Applicable to the Oncology Systems business only: Position must have full access to VMS client sites to perform the essential functions of this position. Many VMS clients require VMS employees and representatives to meet certain “Vendor Credentialing” requirements before they will be allowed to have access to their sites. Unless prohibited by law, the position must meet all Vendor Credentialing requirements necessary to have full client access and must continue to meet those requirements during VMS employment in this position.
  • Actively support product training and implementation through defined implementation processes, access to eLearning, onsite and remote training, and consistent follow-up to ensure adoption and optimal utilization of our solutions/products.
  • Own workflow current state to future state mapping with associated gap analysis
  • Drive detailed requirements gathering sessions through on-site and remote analysis and customer interviews
  • Work with the technical implementation team in translating workflow requirements to actionable technical configuration tasks
  • Develop and help drive customer-specific user adoption strategies and best practices
  • Assisting in the creation and development of our consultative services
  • Development of relevant metrics that demonstrate achievement of clinical, operational, and financial values
  • Work as the clinical resource of the Varian project implementation team as an expert in content curation, product configuration, testing, and workflow.
  • Provide onsite support during system Go-Live and immediate post-Go-Live periods


Achieve assigned KSO targets; Build Client relationships; Ensure long-term Client loyalty; Execute Varian implementation processes; Ensure Client satisfaction; Provide effective company representation; Exemplify Varian professionalism.   • Ability to assess baseline workflows and to develop future state workflows through the implementation of various Varian solutions, understand patient-to-care-team relationships, and possess an aptitude in standardized guidelines involving multiple acute and chronic disease diagnosis and treatment modalities.

  • Clinical experience in patient care working in an Oncology setting (hospital or free-standing) as a Radiation Therapist, Dosimetrist, Physicist, Oncology Nurse or similar licensed position.

  • Communicates and presents effectively; ability to communicate with customer's C-level and with internal Management
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with a proven track record of collaboration and consensus building
  • Solid understanding of medical informatics standards
  • Self-starter, self-motivated, high level of initiative within a fast-paced constantly evolving Healthcare environment
  • Possess an understanding of key elements that drive healthcare organizations’ business perspectives and the key metrics for payers and providers that focus on quality, patient satisfaction, and cost-based results. Ability to work in matrixed and unstructured environments


Required Criteria


  • Strong organizational, analytical and communication skills with a proven track record of collaborative and consensus-building
  • RTT or CMD with a history of at least 5 years of direct patient care experience, Management and aptitude of standardized guidelines preferred
  • 8+ years combined experience with Oncology setting and Healthcare Technology vendor(s)
  • BSN/BS/BA in related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated leadership experience in clinical operations driving strategic and business planning, financial and operational performance
  • Obtains and completes Varian training plan specific to assigned responsibility.

  • Applicable To The Oncology Systems Business Only
    • Immunizations (Hep B, MMR, Varicella, Influenza, Tetanus, Covid19) or others required to deliver services in a patient care environment.
    • Criminal background checks
    • Annual TB testing
    • Healthcare trainings
    • Meets all Vendor Credentialing requirements necessary to gain VMS client site access, unless prohibited by law. These requirements vary by client and may include, but are not limited to:
    • Proof of valid identification (photo, driver’s license, SSN)
    • Drug screens


    Experience Level With Business Tools


    • Experience with SAP or equivalent ERP product and productivity software desired.
    • Must have knowledge as it relates to quality, performance improvement, change theory, and health systems.
    • Proven basic IT knowledge, especially as it relates to intraoperability and infrastructure.
    • Proficient in utilizing business tools such as: Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

    The base pay range for this position is


    Min $86,800 - Max $156,300


    The pay wage range shown is based on the job posting's primary location. Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors, including but not limited to skill set, experience, certifications, and location.
