The Field Application Engineer (FAE) provides technical product application support to Click Bond (CB) customers. FAEs travel to various customer locations to collaborate with the customer’s technical engineers in the application and use of CB products on the customer’s platforms. They collaborate with the customer as needed in the design and development of innovative solutions (including products) when current products do not meet the requirements. FAEs help support the marketing of current and newly designed CB products and systems. They collaborate with CB engineering, manufacturing, and/or production departments, along with the CB Commercial Team to ensure the successful commercialization and sales of current and new products. FAEs help design materials used for customer training on current and newly designed products and systems. They also provide field training to the internal CB sales team as needed. FAEs work closely with all CB departments in the support of a CB gated New Product Development process.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works with Manufacturing Engineering as needed to evaluate equipment and processes with new applications and products so they can be manufactured effectively while maintaining the customer’s requirements.
- Report immediately all suspicious and hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
- Analyzes customer design and/or system requirements, specifications, and use industry standards to determine the feasibility of CB products to meet those application requirements.
- Support the FAE and Commercial Group teams with new technology development to meet the customer’s requirements when current CB product does not provide the solution or meet the technical requirements needed.
- Able to work with minimal supervision, be a self-starter and be detail oriented.
- Assist in maintaining clean, orderly, and hazard-free work areas.
- Troubleshooting/solving new and existing customer engineering issues with current CB products, or through the application development of new products to meet the requirements of the customer.
- Collaborate with the FAE team and/or CB sales team with customer engineering, customer product managers, to fully understand the customer’s application requirements and how CB can provide or develop the solution.
- Works closely with the FAE prototype shop or outside vendors to provide customers with rapid prototyping of innovative solutions, products, and/or systems.
- Assist FAE team members and Product Engineering with customer Application Engineering in Aerospace, Marine, Military, and Automotive.
- Designs and/or helps with the development of new engineering solutions based on customer needs and emerging technology trends.
- Ability to support multiple FAE projects concurrently for a variety of customers.
- Understand and observe all safety guidelines and assure quality and safety by complying with all appropriate CB policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Support FAE and Product Engineering in development new Click Bond product solutions and products based on general customer concepts or requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate the following competencies:
- Experienced in problem-solving methodologies, detail oriented.
- Speaks clearly and confidently in all situations. Ability to listen, get clarification, and respond well to customer questions.
- Ability to author or collaborate on scholarly papers on technical disciplines related to manufacturing, material, and chemical science a plus.
- Able to design in Solid Works and make aerospace quality engineering drawings & draw well-defined engineering concept sketches as needed.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Exhibits sound and accurate judgment and includes appropriate people in the decision-making process.
- Able to read and interpret engineering sketches, aerospace engineering drawings, procedures, and written system specifications.
- Must be a self-starter capable of working with minimal supervision and work well on teams.
- Completes tasks in an efficient and timely manner, notifies management if an alternate plan is needed.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as aerospace procedures, blueprints, engineering requirements, safety rules, and quality assurance manual.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook or similar programs.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to support the writing of reports, business correspondence, test plans, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, clients, customers, and the public.
- Fluent in spoken and written English
COMPUTATIONAL SKILLS
- Ability to perform reliability and feasibility tests, perform variance analysis, etc. as needed.
- Able to apply mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
REASONING ABILITY
- Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and/or deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, draw valid conclusions, establish requirements, and develop the solution concept based on those requirements.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Minimum two years in experience in Aerospace Field Applications, Aerospace Mechanical Engineering component development or relevant experience is required.
- A B.S. in either mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or closely related technical field, or equivalent experience in application development engineering.

- Must frequently lift and/or move up to ten pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Occasionally required to walk and sit.
