Field Applications Engineer, Aerospace & Defense

United States of America, Remote (US only) | Full time | Unlimited

Main purpose, tasks & responsibilities

This is a remote position, desired location on the east coast.
The Aerospace & Defense Vertical represents an important growth opportunity for HUBER+SUHNER through the application of our market leading products to developments at new customers and also focusing on further penetrating existing customers. Our purpose is to increase market share in the Aerospace & Defense market segment through strategic partnerships at the key account level while increasing sales revenue for the Group by providing high quality and innovative solutions. Our success is measured on being recognized as a key innovative long-term supplier through a close cooperative and collaborative relationship.
The engineering department is responsible for the technical support of sales related activities, design, and development in all three technologies (Radio Frequency, Fiber Optics and Low Frequency) within different markets. Activities varies from providing the customer with different design approaches and preparing quotes to making sure all required documentation is provided to the manufacturing team for production.
As Field Applications Engineer, you will provide technical and commercial interface on the full range of HUBER+SUHNER products to assigned key account customers in the Aerospace and Defense market. The Field Application Engineer is the primary technical contact for all customers, outside sales and support functions as well as the conduit for design and technical information flowing from the parent company and other H+S group members. The Field Application Engineer will visit the key customer locations on a regular basis and get involved with new designs on an early supplier involvement basis. The Field Application Engineer will manage customer projects on a technical and commercial basis within the network of HUBER+SUHNER. Emphasis placed in building a strong value proposition and overall product and market strategies. Position will also work closely with the company’s product and market development groups locally in Warren NJ as well as in Herisau Switzerland.

Your profile

Education:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.

Experience:
  • Design and development experience desired; Minimum 3 - 5 years of experience with RF Microwave technologies preferred.
  • 3 - 10 years relevant industry experience.

Skills:
  • Self- starter who is driven to succeed and is excited by results-based performance management with minimal task related guidance.
  • Highly effective written, oral and presentation communication skills.
  • General understanding of programs, awards and how it relates to our customer base.
  • Ability to conceptualize and present innovative electro/mechanical solutions.
  • Strong understanding of RF theory and applications as it relates to the Aerospace & Defense market.

Personal Qualifications:
  • Ability to calculate pricing and provide customer proposition.
  • Ability to work individually as well as part of a remote team.
  • Self-motivated and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to perform problem analysis and problem resolution.
  • Acute customer focus.
  • Ability to travel as required in support of position objectives.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
