Job Description
Overview:
The Coordinator in Domestic Transportation will primarily plan and coordinate shipping activities for customer orders. Those activities will include combing orders for shipment, assigning carrier and ship dates to shipments. In addition the Coordinator will work with BISSELL warehouses and partner carriers to ensure orders ship on time to meet the customer shipping requirements. After shipment the Coordinator will track shipments until delivery.
Responsibilities:
  • Support the Domestic Transportation Analyst in back-up role.
  • May be required to perform other duties as assigned.
  • Assist in reviewing and mitigating non-compliance charges from customers.
  • Assigning ship date and times to shipments and ensuring those dates and times are accurately reflected on warehouse dock schedules.
  • Appoint shipments for delivery at customer’s distribution centers.
  • Tendering loads available for shipment to select carriers. Ensuring carriers either accept or reject tender loads.
  • Route collect freight for shipment with customer.
  • Reviewing available carrier rates on shipments and selecting the most cost-effective carrier eligible.
  • Coordinate requests for product returns from consolidation centers and individual requests from customers.
  • Reviewing orders and selecting orders with similar origin, destination and arrival date characteristics for shipment together. The Coordinator will have the sole responsibility for planning and tracking activities for at least one major account.
  • Working with Bissell warehouses to maintain carrier equipment pools to ensure enough equipment is available for carrier’s shipment volume.
  • Track shipments to ensure on time delivery to customers.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:
  • Experience level: 3-5 years’ experience in transportation field
  • Degree minimum: Bachelor’s degree
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:
  • Experience working with carriers in regard to planning shipments
  • Experience servicing Amazon, Wal Mart, Target, Lowe’s, etc.
  • Experience using transportation management systems
  • Experience in dealing with internal and external warehouses
SPECIALIZED TRAINING OR SKILLS REQUIRED: YES If yes, explain:

Familiar with Oracle Logistics Software for shipment planning.
