Responsibilities/Duties


  • Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions. Ensure that proper materials and mixes are used in the production process.
  • Completing accident reports in a timely manner
  • Annual performance reviews for all direct reports.
  • Recommend personnel actions such as hiring and promotions.
  • Observe work and monitor machine settings to ensure that operators conform to production or processing standards. Make recommendations and ensure issues are addressed by appropriate personnel.
  • Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production to meet goals.
  • Recommend or implement measures to motivate employees and to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, or efficiency.
  • Acting emergency coordinator during work shift.
  • Maintain operations data, such as time, production, and cost records, and prepare management reports of production results.
  • Confer with management or subordinates to resolve worker problems, complaints, or grievances. Handle minor disciplinary issues and follow proper policies and procedures.
  • Required to be flexible with work schedule and hours. Position may require working over, coming in early or altering days off.
  • Read work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements.
  • Confer with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments.
  • Handling of all incidents during work shift.
  • Directs, coordinates, and evaluates the activities of employees engaged in the production process. Maintain education and training records of employees.
  • Attend all required meetings examples: monthly huddles, staff meetings, training etc.
  • Demonstrate equipment operations and safety procedures to new employees or assign employees to experienced workers for training.
  • Follow and enforce safety policies/procedures. Maintain safe working environment.

Required Experience


  • 2 years previous supervisory experience


Preferred Experience


  • Must successfully complete operator training and testing.
  • Experience in a "lean manufacturing environment" preferred
  • Knowledge of blown film extrusion methods prefer 3-5 years experience

High school graduate or equivalency

Preferred Qualifications


  • Ability to work in environment that is extremely hot, humid in the summer months, and cold in the winter months.
  • Ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and or legs. Must be able to reach and lift up to 50 lbs above shoulders (frequently) reaching above head (occasionally), stooping (occasionally), twisting (occasionally), and bending at waist (occasionally).
  • Ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles repeatedly or continuously to lift objects. (frequently)
  • Ability to stand and change positions frequently over an eight-hour period.
  • Ability to exert muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects. (Lifting requirements up to and including 50 lbs) (frequently) Must be able to balance rolls of plastic up to 300 lbs.
  • Ability to quickly respond (with the hand, finger, or foot) to a signal (sound, light, picture) when it appears.
  • Ability to quickly move your hand, your hands together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, lift, manipulate or assemble objects. (many duties require hand over hand movement) (frequently)
  • Must be able to see in low light conditions, hear, and speak clearly.
  • Ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands.
