Job Description
Reports to: Associate National Executive Director


Location: Los Angeles (Tues-Thurs in office, Mon and Fri remote)


This is a full-time position that leads on the day-to-day ideation, management, and execution of two Producers Guild programs:


  • Independent Production Safety Initiative (IPSI), which provides free, anti-sexual harassment training and legal consultation for independent film, television and digital productions.
  • PGA Create, a lab for emerging and mid-career creative producers from under-represented backgrounds; and


The position serves as an important ambassador for the programs and the Guild’s commitment to promoting access, diversity, equity, inclusion, respect, and safety in the production process and across the industry. This is a full-time, exempt position with a salary range of $70,000 - $100,000 based on level of experience.

Responsibilities


PGA Create - Program Management and Administration


was launched in Fall 2021 with the lead sponsorship support of Google. It’s a lab for emerging and mid-career creative producers in active development, financing or packaging of a feature or series. There are two program cycles: Scripted and Documentary.


  • Work with Guild leadership to maximize awareness and cultivate engagement of the programs through all facets of the Guild and its relationships.
  • Set the annual program timeline, including all application open and close dates, review panels, final selection panels, template letters for informing applicants of their status throughout the review process.
  • Work with the Digital Marketing Manager on all outreach lists, asset requirements and a timeline for promotion of the open application period.
  • Mentor matching for final PGA Create Fellows.
  • Work with the Legal Dept to ensure that all participant releases are updated prior to the launch of the application.
  • Manage the application and review process.
  • Refine evaluation processes, including identification of any consultants or advisors.
  • Manage program budgets, proposals and reports as needed - for internal stakeholders and external funders and partners.
  • Engage any outside consultants collaborating as advisors to the program.
  • Foster a community around current PGA Create Fellows and alumni.
  • Ensure the integration of outreach, participants, advisors, mentors and speakers into year-round Guild systems.
  • Actively participate in the design, development and execution of communications and marketing strategies.
  • Manage and oversee program development, as needed.


Independent Production Safety Initiative - Program Management and Administration


As part of the $20 million CBS donated to women’s advocacy groups, CBS provided the Producers Guild of America Foundation with a $2 million grant to support the Guild’s . The program is designed with the purpose of establishing a culture on set such that harassment and other abusive conduct are prevented from occurring.


  • Create a marketing plan with the Digital Marketing Manager to promote the availability of this free resource for independent productions.
  • Review applications from independent productions for free on-set training and legal services. (Available to productions with at least 20 cast and crew members.) - Rolling basis
  • Maintain an on-line resource library of free resources (e.g., Code of Conduct, Producer’s Checklist for a Safe, Harassment-Free Workplace).
  • Match productions with participating attorneys and schedule their training.
  • Maintain a roster of employment attorneys available to offer customized training to productions.
  • Organize quarterly community-wide trainings in major production centers.


Skills / Minimum Requirements


  • Proven leadership, prioritization, and analytical skills.
  • A meticulous attention to detail, including proofreading and fact-checking.
  • A minimum of 4 years of previous experience in film or television, particularly in development, production, financing, sales, marketing or distribution. Also relevant: adjacent experience at a management company, talent agency or law firm representing producers or managing talent development programs at a non-profit. You must have more than a cursory understanding of producing.
  • The Producers Guild staff uses the following tools. It is expected that you are comfortable using them: MS Office suite, One Drive, Sharepoint, Zoom Meeting, Zoom Webinar, MassMailer, Airtable, Submittable, entire Adobe suite (including InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator), Google suite, Slack, Mailchimp and Survey Monkey. You must be comfortable learning Nimble/Salesforce (our association software database).
  • A demonstrated commitment to advancing content and talent with a high level of cultural integrity and authenticity.
  • Strong project management skills as you will manage two key programs with separate timelines, contractors and participants.
  • Excellent communication skills - verbal and written. You will be required to communicate diplomatically with numerous stakeholders within and external to the organization on a timely basis.
  • Comfortable with public speaking and engaging with filmmakers and other talent.
  • Cloud computing, and cloud storage – and best practices of both.
  • An understanding of the industry and relationships interfacing with producers.
  • Bachelor’s degree OR equivalent experience.
  • A proven ability and track record of evaluating material and/or managing submission or mentorship review processes.
  • Skilled in discussing intersectional issues in the creative and production process with sensitivity and diplomacy.
  • Experience in both scripted and documentary/non-fiction production is a plus, though it is understood that you may not have direct experience in both.


Preferred Requirements


  • Ability to actively contribute from day one in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
  • Prior experience working with a nonprofit organization or membership association. Helpful, but not mandatory.
  • Experience managing grants and sponsorships - from application, through elements of writing proposals and reports to managing budgets. Helpful, but not mandatory.
  • Prior experience as a creative producer is helpful, but not mandatory. Important: This is a full-time position. Ideal candidates are not actively working as producers (i.e., currently developing and pitching their own projects).
  • Prior experience with mentoring programs - either as a mentor or mentee. Helpful, but not mandatory.

  • You understand that due to the nature of the position, you will be expected to work some evenings and weekends, particularly when the programs are running.
  • Have a strong capacity for multitasking. You will work simultaneously on numerous events with different stakeholders. Some may be in an ideation phase while others are in the midst of execution.
  • You are flexible and responsive to phone calls, emails or text messages from colleagues working across different time zones. This is within reason, unless there is an actual emergency.
