Job Description
We are searching for a dynamic and committed Program Director to drive our mission forward and navigate the exciting challenges of a startup environment.

About Us:

The i-Center is a new entity that will deepen and expand the capacity, impact, and sustainability of California’s grassroots movements for racial justice and social transformation. The i-Center will support changemakers and organizations to catalyze innovations in movement strategy and power building, intergenerational leadership development, and our collective long-term sustainability and resiliency. Through a network of physical and virtual “centers,” the i-Center will also contribute a key piece of social movement infrastructure needed to fuel transformative structural change across California. This network will consist of new and existing centers serving hundreds of organizations and tens of thousands of grassroots leaders in California. We aspire to raise the necessary resources to fuel the mission, vision, and programs of the i-Center.

The i-Center is focusing on three core strategies to deepen the power, coordination, and impact of the sector. In all three areas, we will create program and infrastructure supports that are additive and synergistic with existing movement efforts rather than duplicative.

  • Movement Strategy and Innovation
  • Healing Justice and Sustainable Work Culture
  • Intergenerational Leadership Development

What You’ll Be Doing:

This is an exciting new role, and this position aims to advance the work in existing program strategies. This position is a remarkable opportunity to make a substantial impact by driving the direction of i-Center’s program strategy and managing key projects. The Program Director will be crucial in managing program strategies, sharing learning, and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure maximum impact.

More specifically, the Program Director will:

  • Develop, design, and implement program strategies aligned with the i-Center's mission and vision.
  • Develop and refine project milestones and goals, working with stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure they are accurately reflected in the project plan.
  • Document program learnings and ensure they align with our learning agenda. In addition, you will play a critical role in updating our learning agenda for the upcoming year.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with internal stakeholders, including our leadership team and implementation committee.
  • Oversee program staff, providing mentorship and support as needed.
  • Play a crucial role in ensuring the long-term success of our programs by providing essential support for our fundraising initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of systems that increase the organization's effectiveness and impact.
  • Coordinate and oversee the progress of all programs, ensuring they meet objectives on time and within budget.
  • Navigate and adapt to the rapidly changing environment characteristic of a startup organization.

Who You Are:

While no one person will embody all of the qualities described below, the ideal candidate will possess many of the following professional and personal abilities, attributes, and experiences:

  • Strong strategic and visionary thinking skills.
  • Proven success in coaching and inspiring teams across age, gender, race, and socioeconomic experiences.
  • Experience in designing and executing systems and processes within an organization.
  • A flexible and resilient approach, with the ability to handle strong opinions/feedback well and adapt to the dynamic nature of a startup environment.
  • Strong knowledge of grassroots organizations and the political landscape in California.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A strong alignment with the i-Center's mission and culture.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and tasks concurrently.
  • Proven management and leadership skills, with a knack for building and maintaining strong relationships.
  • Demonstrated expertise in organizing and program development, with at least five to seven years of experience in a similar role within a non-profit setting.

Benefits:

Employees receive 15 days of vacation, 4 personal days, and 12 sick days per year, and a generous paid family leave policy. We also provide the following at no cost to the employee:

  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Medical insurance. Employees pay only 10% of the premium to add dependent(s).
  • RocketLawyer services
  • Dental and vision insurance, including dependent coverage.
  • Life and AD&D Insurance of $50K.
  • Short-term and long-term disability plans, which cover up to 60% of weekly salary.

Employees may also elect these coverages, paid for with payroll deductions:

  • Retirement plan. Employer match of 5% after one year of employment.
  • Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
  • Supplemental Life and Dependent Life insurance
  • Commuter benefits
  • 529 College Savings Plan
  • Pet insurance

This is a full-time, exempt position starting as soon as possible. This role is remote; however, the candidate must be in California.

We encourage those who see alignment with our mission and believe they have the relevant skills and experience to apply. We commit to providing an inclusive work environment where everyone is treated with fairness, dignity, and respect.

i-Center is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.

The salary range for this position is $110,000 - $140,000. This position reports directly to the Executive Director.

Apply:

If you're ready to navigate the energizing challenges of a startup environment and you're committed to making a transformative structural change across California, we invite you to apply!

Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
