Job Description
Job Title: Senior Programs Director


Location: Anaheim, CA. Staff are currently working a hybrid schedule, with three days in-person and two days remote. Requires some travel throughout the Greater Los Angeles Area (vehicle and driver's license required). 


Term: Full-time, occasional evening and weekends required 


Position Status: Exempt 


Pay Range: $130,00 - $160,000/annual, commensurate with skills and experience.


Reports to: Executive Director 


Requirements: Must provide proof of COVID-19 Vaccination/Boosters

Position Summary: CAIR-LA is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team as our Senior Programs Director. This senior leadership position will oversee the Special Projects, Programs, and Communications team, playing a pivotal role in advancing CAIR's mission and promoting the civil rights and well-being of the American-Muslim community in the Greater Los Angeles Area. The successful candidate will have multiple years of experience as a director within the nonprofit setting providing strategic guidance, fundraising, managerial oversight, and effective coordination to ensure the success of an organization's programs infrastructure and initiatives.


Responsibilities


  • Direct and support the effective functioning of CAIR's programs, ensuring high-quality service delivery and impactful outcomes.
  • Oversee, maintain, and support the development of all institutional fundraising initiatives and contracts with government and philanthropic partners including directing and fundraising for a $6 million budget
  • Support fundraising, resource allocation. and budget management to ensure community needs and program deliverables are met.
  • Oversee the development and execution of CAIR's communications strategy to enhance visibility, awareness, and engagement.
  • Oversee and guide the work of department directors and managers, ensuring alignment with CAIR's mission and goals.
  • Support communications strategies and campaigns to increase CAIR-LA's fundraising initiatives, including all digital marketing campaigns.
  • Programs:
  • Provide guidance to programs manager in developing, implementing, and evaluating program activities.
  • Special Projects:
  • Direct and develop special projects undertaken by CAIR, including community engagement initiatives, campaigns, reports, research endeavors, and collaborative efforts with partner organizations.
  • Direct financial oversight of all grants including the expensing and invoicing of grants and contracts in coordination with the operations and accounting teams.
  • Provide support during the hiring process, budget development, and fundraising initiatives.
  • Experience directing, supervising, and supporting statewide, multi-office, multi-departmental initiatives that involve state contracts and/or legal and advocacy programs.
  • Ensure consistent messaging and branding across various platforms, including website, social media, newsletters, and press releases.
  • Direct and oversee CAIR-LA's grant writing team.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive work plans, objectives, and performance metrics for the respective programs.
  • Foster strategic partnerships and collaborations to increase funding and resources for special projects with the legal, programs, policy, organizing, outreach, and communications departments.
  • Provide strategic direction and leadership for the Special Projects, Programs, and Communications team.
  • Collaborate with the communications team to proactively address media inquiries, manage crisis communications, and promote CAIR's initiatives and advocacy efforts.
  • Attend conferences, events, meetings, and other gatherings as a representative of CAIR-LA and CAIR-CA's leadership team.

  • Maintain strategic relationships with government officials, funders, and key community stakeholders.
  • Ensure successful planning, capacity building, implementation, and evaluation of projects, adhering to strategic goals, timelines, and budgetary considerations.


Qualifications


  • At least five years of experience managing a team in the nonprofit, government, legal, or related field.
  • Experience managing digital and print content creation, including some understanding of graphic design, layout, and publishing.
  • Passion for social justice, civil liberties, and promoting equality and inclusivity.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and media engagement.
  • At least two years of experience managing external, nonprofit communications.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field required.
  • Proficiency in utilizing digital communication tools, social media platforms, and content management systems.
  • Access to reliable transportation to attend meetings and events in various Southern California cities.
  • Master's or advanced degree preferred.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders, including community members, partner organizations, and policymakers.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, project management, and budget oversight.
  • Strong knowledge of civil rights issues, particularly those affecting the American-Muslim community.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and social media marketing.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in program management, advocacy, nonprofit fundraising, or related fields.
  • Knowledge of relevant applications such as SharePoint, Office365, OneDrive, and case management software is preferred.
  • Proven leadership and management skills, with the ability to supervise and mentor a large diverse team.
  • At least three years of experience as a director at a nonprofit organization.


Compensation:


  • 3% retirement matching contribution.

  • Compensation in the range of $130,000 - $160,000/annually, commensurate with experience.
  • 10 paid holidays, 10 sick days, and 12 vacation days.
