The Director of Revenue Management (“Director de Gestión de Ingresos”) is responsible for the development, execution, and measurement of strategic and tactical pricing and inventory management in both the Group and Leisure segments. Knowledge of and the ability to maximize room revenue via major distribution channels, including the GDS, OTA's, brand, and property sites, are essential. This position reports to the Senior Vice President of Business Development and will work closely with the Chief Operating Officer, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, General Managers, Hotel Managers, and Director of Sales to increase market share and strategically book the most profitable business possible.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
General
- Lead a consistent and robust revenue management program consistent with an upscale, full-service resort; experience with resort services, including golf, spa, and dining, is critical.
- Chair weekly revenue management meetings and give a synopsis of past strategies versus results. Lead the discussion on current/future issues. Stimulate discussions and analysis to determine the effectiveness of selling, pricing, and distribution strategies and determine the appropriate mix of business that will allow the properties to maximize both RevPAR and Market Share through appropriate mix management.
- This position, with assistance from the Director of Sales & Marketing, will provide short-term and long-term room revenue projections, including weekly, monthly, quarterly and full-year projections.
- Support the Director of Reservations and Group Sales Team by providing pertinent information and tools to enhance the sales and marketing efforts and decision-making processes.
- Effectively incorporate the revenue management philosophy in all aspects of sales, marketing, and operations, including training and information sessions on behalf of all revenue-generating positions.
- Provide strategic leadership to Hotel Sales & Marketing, Reservations, and Rooms Department, contributing to superior revenue growth and overall profitability of the properties.
- Identify, communicate, and execute opportunities to increase incremental revenue based on historical demand, regional, seasonal, and competitive influences and market, group performance, price sensitivity by market segment, demand, and reservation costs across multiple sales channels.
Forecasting
- Prepare 30-60-90 Day Revenue Forecast on a monthly basis for presentation. Develop, monitor, and maintain all short-term and long-term forecasts as outlined by standards, with forecasting to be demand based to coincide with pricing strategy
- Develop rooms revenue portion of the annual budget by market segment.
- Maintain forecast accuracy and integrity.
- Lead development of key budgetary and forecast goals and objectives by market segment. Develop budget to actual feedback and comparisons and report monthly achievements.
Systems & Applications
- Support the company in any technical transitions aimed at supporting room revenue management as they occur.
- Support of the Reservations Department in conjunction with the Front Office Manager/Supervisor
- Responsible for monitoring/maintaining the software programs, including interfaces that support room revenue management.
- Superior knowledge of CRS, Synxis, GDS and PMS systems.
Channel Management
- Research and evaluation of e-Distribution channels to identify strategic partnerships and affiliations to maximize distribution for the organization.
- Analyze trends by market segment based on the day of the week, booking window, and season to better develop pricing strategies.
- Manage inventory and rate structure in all applicable systems to optimize revenues and margins.
- Utilize understanding of GDS, including seamless rate displays, sequencing, and property HOD's
- Analyze marketplace reports such as STR and other available applications and present the revenue opportunities in the analysis.
Analysis
- Oversee the development of pricing strategies for all negotiated business
- Develop LOS strategies for market segments to maximize revenue contribution. Develop, and maintain long-term and short-term group booking parameters.
- Implementation of all revenue strategy and management of pricing in all applicable systems, including but not limited to the GDS, third-party channels and our branded website.
- Maintain performance measures of marketing efforts to analyze property program-specific return on investments (ROI).
- Research, identify, and develop revenue management opportunities, techniques, and practices that contribute to superior RevPAR growth and market share increases.
- Explore market mix variations that would stimulate revenue.
- Transform theoretical knowledge gained from analysis into the business cycle, booking cycle and long-term strategic planning.
- Manual reporting as necessary for the purposes of analysis/feedback
- Consistently evaluate inventory selling process
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the immediate supervision of Internet Reservation Supervisors to ensure that all tasks and duties are performed properly.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Advanced computer skills are required.
- Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Resort experience is required.
- Ability to stand, kneel, squat for prolonged periods of time, up to and including, the entire shift.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a Director of Revenue Management role.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Must be proficient in a number of industry applications, including reservations applications, property management applications, yield and revenue management software, and internet-based platforms.
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs.
- The following position will be filled in accordance with the process set forth in California Labor Code Section 2810.8 and San Diego Municipal Code 311.0101 et. seq.
