Job Description

About Us

Founded in 2010, Urban Ed Academy began as a Saturday School Program geared toward enriching its students through stem-based exposure. Since 2018, UEA has been implementing innovative approaches to include non-traditional means of disrupting the negative cycle perpetuating the achievement gap for Black and Brown people and creating more equitable outcomes for underrepresented elementary school students.

Through Man the Bay (MTB) initiative, Urban Ed Academy is committed to increasing Black male teacher representation. Our vision is to place a Black male teacher in every elementary school in San Francisco and Oakland. Our unique solutions attempt to fundamentally change the landscape of teacher recruitment, culturally responsive training, and teacher support, including housing, in order to improve education for the next generation.

As a young start-up organization, the work environment can be as demanding as it is rewarding. 2023-24 will be a major inflection point for us as an organization as we continue to build out our program team. We have an emerging culture that values energy, creativity, and innovation in building a solution that no one has gotten right yet. We will continue to iterate until we find the right processes and people. We want to build relationships that last and programs that expand beyond the Bay Area. That growth will take time, and we are inviting people to invest in our potential.
