Location: Performed remotely with preference for candidates able to work according to the Eastern time zone.

DART is one of the largest faith-based community organizing networks in the country. We believe that fighting for racial and economic justice is fundamental to the identity of people of faith, and we know that successfully fighting for justice requires having power in the public arena. DART has been organizing interfaith coalitions to build power since 1982. A few of our victories include:

  • Criminal justice reforms resulting in 30,000 fewer arrests of children
  • Implementation of fair discipline policies in hundreds of schools, breaking the school-to-prison pipeline
  • Hundreds of millions of dollars invested in affordable housing
  • $950 million invested in public transportation, ensuring people can get to home, work, or wherever they need


About the work

The need for community organizers who are building power in local communities for justice has never been greater, and our 31 local affiliate organizations are searching for organizing talent. Finding the right people to fill these selective positions requires a team of astute recruiters who will turn every stone to surface community organizers who will go on to engage everyday people to fight for justice.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Build a pipeline of talent by researching and contacting universities and other community organizations and networking with relevant staff, faculty, and student leaders
  • Research, develop, and implement strategies to improve the recruitment and retention of organizers of color
  • Identify and evaluate new digital technologies that can assist in recruitment of organizers
  • Assist local organizations in meeting staffing needs by recruiting & screening candidates for open positions
  • Manage DART’s online presence through our website and social media (10% of time)


Required qualifications

  • Core passion for justice and equality
  • Exceptional work ethic and self-motivation
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • At least two years of professional experience in related fields such as recruitment, community organizing, advocacy, congregational or non-profit leadership, or similar work


Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with working remotely
  • Knowledge of Nationbuilder CRM and JazzHR recruitment software
  • Experience with faith-based community organizing


Compensation

Starting salary is $50,000 - $60,000 depending on experience. Benefits include up to $500 per month for health insurance premium reimbursement, paid vacation, sick and parental leave, and 15% employer retirement contribution after 1 year.
