Director Of Operations / General Manager

This position will oversee and be responsible for management of all areas of manufacturing to produce customer products and direct activities resulting in products manufactured on schedule, meeting quality standards, and cost objectives.

• Communicates and explains new directives, policies, or procedures to managers; for major changes, meets with entire operations staff to explain changes, answer questions, and maintain morale.
• Directs and coordinates various programs essential to manufacturing procedures (for example, training, safety, cost reduction, worker involvement, security, etc.).
• Implement or oversee environmental management or sustainability programs addressing issues such as recycling, conservation, or waste management.
• Assists company officers and staff in the development and formulation of long and short range planning, policies, programs and objectives.
• Performs miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required.
• Initiates and coordinates major projects (for example, plant layout / in lining; installation of capital equipment, major repairs, etc.).
• Plans, directs, controls, implements, evaluates, monitors, and forecasts budgets to achieve financial objectives.
• Hires, trains, develop and evaluate staff. Takes corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with Company policy. Ensures compliance with current federal, state, and local regulations.
• Analyze data to inform operational decisions / activities and determine resource needs. Identifies, recommend and implements changes to improve productivity and reduce cost and scrap, monitor scrap and rework data.
• Directs and monitors department supervisors to accomplish goals of the manufacturing plan, consistent with established manufacturing and safety procedures. Acts as liaison between department supervisors, as well as executive levels to inform personnel of communications, decisions, policies and all matters that affect their performance, attitudes, and results.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions as well as track and report on activity.
• 3+ years lean manufacturing experience including process improvement and proven leadership role in areas of quality, safety, enterprise software implementation.
• Proven multi-function leader with the ability to inspire team towards a common vision; mentor junior members; recognize deficiencies; and backfill or develop staff to compliment needs.
• Experience in Die Casting, Polishing, Buffing and/or Plating processes highly desirable.
• Skill in organization and prioritization, and attention to detail.
• BA/BS in industrial, mechanical engineering or business administration, or 4-year technical degree in related discipline.
• 10+ years of manufacturing management. A minimum of 5 years experience managing a significant segment of a large manufacturer or the entire operation of a smaller manufacturer.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
