HIRING FOR A DYNAMIC GENERAL MANAGER FOR FARAWAY MARTHA'S VINEYARD

Description

The Hotel Assistant General Manager is a passionate leader responsible for managing and leading Faraway Martha’s Vineyard with a focus on maximizing budgeted revenue, achieving owner satisfaction and creating a best-in class product and work environment. This senior leadership position reports to the Regional Director of Hotel and F&B Operations. This key leadership role oversees all working components of the hotel, including front desk and housekeeping. This role plays a critical hand in training and developing talent, growing revenue, reducing costs and providing a delightfully hospitable experience for staff and guests alike.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures operational excellence for the property, providing support, guidance and turn-around strategies for any shortcomings of brand or company expectations.
  • Collaborates and tracks HR and compliance, working with The Regional Director of HR to ensure all hiring strategies are in alignment with organizational and budget goals.
  • Manages leadership team including Department Leads.
  • Collaborates and implements sales and marketing strategies to maximize revenue working with The Regional Director of Sales and Marketing.
  • Manages maximization of revenue and profit throughout the property across all departments in alignment with the budget. Provides support in executing annual plans.
  • Proactively seeks solutions to issues, troubleshoots and effectively communicates those solutions.
  • Coordinates ongoing maintenance schedule in conjunction with The Regional Director of Maintenance for smooth opening and closing transitions throughout the season.
  • Develops and implements strategies to maximize budgeted revenue and profits in collaboration with the Department Leads. Develops ancillary revenue streams supporting revenue goals.
  • Leverages internal resources to support the success of the overall region.
  • Coordinates communication and partnerships with local businesses.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the business.
  • Creates a dazzling, positive culture of hospitality complimented by positive relationships with owners, Department Leads and line-level staff.
  • Manages technology (hardware and software) to support internal tasks and guest communication.
  • Establishes and maintains high standards of excellence in every detail and step of the guest journey.

  • Demonstrates a deep understanding and appreciation of hospitality culture including the trends, the disruptors, the behaviors and the complexities/opportunities.
  • Candidate has excellent leadership skills with a proven track record of building high performance teams. Ability to inspire, motivate and develop employees.


Requirements & Experience

  • Experience with various technology systems and their integration.
  • Ability to identify problems and solve them.
  • Flexibility and willingness to adapt to ongoing changes.
  • In-depth working knowledge of the local landscape including the community, labor market, talent pool, local laws and regulations.
  • 4+ years of hospitality experience in a senior leadership role working in hotel operations.
  • Open availability including evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Candidate exhibits a healthy pulse on cultural trends, especially pertaining to the local landscape’s hotels.

  • Competitive pay of up to $100,000 USD Seasonal ($70,000 USD from April to mid-December). Bonus eligible of up to 10%. Housing with minimal weekly payment provided.
