Job Description
AKA NYC is an award-winning, fully integrated advertising agency with unparalleled expertise across the arts & entertainment, leisure, travel, retail, and tourism sectors. We are looking for a Director of Audience Engagement to help us grow and diversify our theatre audiences to more accurately reflect the diversity of New York City. This position will play a vital role in deepening audience engagement, including finding connections that resonate with diverse audiences. An innovative idea generator, they will serve as a change agent, working to broaden the lens of how we tend to think about audiences within the theatre and arts industry. The successful candidate will be passionate about diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility initiatives and will possess the ability to build relationships with organizations that serve underrepresented communities to increase visibility and provide more accessible opportunities for engagement.


WHAT YOU’LL DO:


Audience Growth & Development


  • Make recommendations on trends, content, events, and other opportunities to increase reach and engagement
  • Strategize, identify, and collaborate with key influencers to build campaigns that target diverse audiences
  • Experiment with new audience tools and platforms across all marketing and advertising channels
  • Work across our client portfolio to build and execute strategies to reach new and diverse audiences and engage (or reinvigorate) current audience members.


Partnerships


  • Build, cultivate and negotiate client and partner relationships to pitch our stories and find new opportunities for growth
  • Build and maintain a database of brands, influencers, partners and organizations that can help us amplify our reach
  • Uses consultative skills to collaborate with partners to identify gaps or barriers related to cultural competency


Project & Event Management


  • Collaborate with the social media team to outline social strategy and manage execution
  • Craft KPIs and create performance reports to show progress against agreed upon goals
  • Participate in ongoing optimization of the social strategy, playbook, community management, content creation, social promotions/contests, and partnerships to improve our delivery and results
  • Lead engagement initiatives including campaigns or events
  • Collaborate with marketing team to draft internal communications and external social media posts that articulate company news, updates, events or celebrations.
  • Strategy and Reporting
  • Execute ideas quickly and strategically while managing internal relationships and expectations
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of trends, new technologies, and DEIA best practices and current challenges
  • Work with the Creative Studio to ensure engaging content is delivered on strategy and on time


WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:


  • A comfortable and confident approach to presenting your own ideas (including the unusual ones!)
  • Experience in relationship building; identifying potential collaborations and partnerships
  • Fluency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel, Adobe, and Social Networking Platforms
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with emphasis on accuracy
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to aggregate information from multiple sources
  • Ability to multitask and excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to deliver strategic, innovative, and effective campaigns for clients
  • 6+ years of experience in a growth-oriented marketing role (or similar), ideally servicing the entertainment industry


WHAT WE OFFER:
  • Student loan repayment assistance (or tuition assistance) up to $5,000 with 6 years of service

  • A competitive salary between $65,000 - $75,000, commensurate with experience
