We are seeking a Director, New Product Development to join our Standards and Engineering Services group.
The Director, New Product Development, reporting to the Senior Director, Engineering Operations, and in collaboration with senior management, staff, volunteers, and other internal and external stakeholders, is responsible for the effective identification, development, evaluation, and execution of strategic, operational, and programmatic initiatives impacting the breadth and depth of ASME’s SES product portfolio and activities.
In addition, the incumbent will serve as a focal point for enabling and integrating cross-sector, enterprise, and external initiatives related to new product development, maximizing the value of existing products, climate change product initiatives, and the application of new and emerging technologies to expand the visibility, use, and adoption of products.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Manage research projects for new and emerging technologies that will support the deployment of technical content that addresses industry needs and is consumable in a convenient manner by both humans and machines.
- Conduct market research (both independently and in conjunction with other ASME business units).
- Conceive, contribute to, and/or lead the development and implementation of strategies, project/business plans for achieving sector strategies and objectives, and delivery of new products and services necessary to fulfill the sector and enterprise vision and mission.
- Explore operational and technical topics, analyze industry trends and dynamics, and anticipate market needs.
- Provide leadership in the ideation and development of new and non-traditional content, products, and programs, including via the management of staff and volunteer groups and leveraging resources and activities taking place within other parts of the organization.
- Contribute to the rationalization and development of ASME’s content eco-system, including delivery of non-standard products such as webinars, workshops, conferences, learning and development, guidelines, and other technical documents.
Ideal candidate must have a Bachelors’ degree in Business, Engineering, Marketing, Technology, or a combination of equivalent education and experience. Candidate must have experience in the development and implementation of first-of-a-kind programs and projects and maximizing value and revenue generation of existing products. In addition, the candidate must possess:
- Ability to travel domestically and/or internationally approximately 20% of the time.
- Ability to establish robust, measurable, and achievable goals and milestones related to the position.
- Ability to understand new and emerging technologies and assess how the organization can exploit these technologies to drive results and improve performance.
- Ability to identify, research, analyze, monitor, and interpret quantitative and qualitative data, draw sound conclusions, and communicate recommendations for the development of new products and processes, the improvement of existing products and processes, or elimination of existing products and processes.

Annual base salary may vary based on geographic location. New York metro salary range for this position is estimated to be between $145,000 – $160,000 per year.
