Provide leadership and direction for strategic procurement activities associated with Indirect Goods and Services across Exactech’s operations. Take responsibility for all indirect category spend management, contracting, and supplier relationship management for the Enterprise. Categories under management include, but are not limited to, Engineering, MRO, Facilities, CAPEX, IT, HR, professional services (consulting, legal services, etc.), temporary labor, office supplies, and travel services.
Key Responsibilities
- Reporting & Intelligence. Provide regular intelligence to stakeholders regarding the Company’s evolving spend profile, savings results, and risk mitigation activities. Prepare monthly progress reports including progress on key initiatives, savings achieved/forecast, cost metrics and variances versus plan. Leverage interactions with external marketplace to provide insight to stakeholders regarding pricing, vendor, and technology trends. Develop in-depth knowledge of Indirect Goods and Services budgets, historical spend, detailed requirements, and external supply market trends. Spearhead the development and use of eSourcing and eProcurement tools.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of effective and efficient internal procurement policies and procedures.
- Supplier Relationship Management. Manage suppliers , ensuring supply reliability and continuity, price stability, price predictability, innovation, and identification of alternative sources. Optimize value, quality, and security of supply by measuring performance and maintaining relationships with suppliers. Ensure suppliers are performing to contracted obligations and service levels, and meeting stakeholder expectations. Initiate quarterly business reviews with suppliers to review performance and trend program direction. When performance issues emerge, lead interactions with the supplier to ensure efficient resolution.
- Portfolio Strategy. Develop and implement a comprehensive plan for assigned spend that drives improvements in quality, inventory, and working capital management, and delivery performance. Continually conduct market analysis, peer company benchmarking, supply risk assessments, and evaluation of new sources of supply. Ensure proper sequencing, budgeting, resourcing, and stakeholder support for an annual portfolio of projects.
- Strategic Sourcing. Develop and implement strategic sourcing and category management initiatives to drive savings, create value, and support the objectives of the organization. Structure analysis of spend to enable informed decision-making and drive discussions with key stakeholders. Ensure sourcing efforts leverage spend analytics, market intelligence, benchmarking, and TCO analysis. Develop comprehensive implementation plans involving all relevant stakeholders. Bring forward creative alternative sourcing solutions. Quantify and document sourcing project results.
- Know and apply the Quality System and any appropriate Federal and International standards.
- Contract Management. Create contracts reflecting the results of sourcing initiatives. Manage market and supplier risks with appropriate legal terms and conditions. Manage contract approval and exception processes. Educate end users about new contracts; track and ensure compliance with approved contracts. Develop and maintain template master service agreements and standard terms and conditions for common and/or critical contracting situations.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field from an accredited institution required; Master’s Degree preferred
Experience:
- Expertise in negotiations and contracting, including: e-sourcing, should-cost models, leveraged agreements, multi-year contracts, complex terms and conditions, performance incentives, and management of corporate risk
- A distinctive track record of year-over-year delivery of value and implemented savings on a TCO basis
- 5+ years of strategic sourcing experience managing advanced negotiations
- 10+ years of professional experience in a well-respected organization, preferably within the healthcare industry
- Experience with category management and multi-step strategic sourcing processes for indirect spend categories

- Able to connect with team members at all levels of the organization, i.e., plant operations, management, executives
- Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal and presentation skills; comfortable and credible with both internal stakeholders and external audiences
- Strong project management skills, including stakeholder, timeline, and meeting management skills; demonstrated excellence in managing internal customers
- Strong financial, quantitative, and analytical skills; embraces fact‐based decision making; naturally seeks to leverage and/or integrate market data, spend analytics, and cost modeling
- A flexible, dynamic, self-demanding and proactive individual; able to motivate him/herself and others
