The Technology Division at the College Board is a forward-thinking, innovative team of technologists, focused on building products and services that connect students to college success and opportunity. About the Opportunity
As our Director, Engineering Experience at College Board, you’ll play a key role in cultivating and establishing the Technology Division’s approach to the future of work. You’ll lead our engineering work experience efforts, spearheading our approach to engineering culture. You’ll also partner with various Technology departments and teams to adapt the way we design our division and develop our engineering staff. You understand engineering teams, and how to design employee experiences and you are excellent at writing, and building processes, and are thoughtful with change management. Along with us, you embrace the adaptations to the changing work environment and are thoughtful with your approach to developing and innovating the way our engineers work.
In this role, you will:
  • Spearhead and administer engineering experiences that engage engineering teams
  • Identify opportunities for more new hire events
  • Spearhead and administer junior-senior engineer mentorship program
  • Collaborate with internal teams and partners to build out our strategy and programs around engineering experience
  • Align the engineering experience with our Elevating Engineering themes
  • Define and evangelize an engineering experience communication cadence
  • Serve as the subject matter expert and servant leader on engineering experience
  • Create a point of view on documentation and moving past confluence
  • Pilot team events/reading groups/study groups for engineers
  • Develop a career-beneficial engineer rotation
  • Roll out learning events / periodic hackathons - create and inspire the way we host internal events and teambuilding opportunities to support our engineering teams
  • Stand up and maintain a wins channel/thread on Teams or another tool
  • Create an Onboarding steward program for new engineer hires
  • Foster programs around peer relationships across engineering teams
  • Spearhead and administer engineering challenges inspired by Advent of Code
About You
You have:
  • Ability to influence and gain alignment across stakeholders
  • Excellent communicator, written and verbal
  • Professional background within an engineering organization (former engineer or engineering manager is a plus)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications or equivalent experience
  • Experience planning and leading strategic initiatives
  • Experience presenting and evangelizing org wide change management initiatives to executive leadership

The salary offer of an individual candidate within this range is specific to their location and qualifications.
