Here's a summary of responsibilities:
Reporting to the VP, Institutional Advancement, the Director, Development Strategic Engagement is a key member of the Development division’s leadership team and assists the division in planning and executing a wide range of complex duties related to special projects. This position will serve as a strategic partner for the Chief Development Officer (CDO) and VP, Institutional Advancement. As a critical cross-divisional partner, the Director will support the Development division in a wide variety of special projects, with a focus on key initiatives that will support the organization’s comprehensive campaign efforts.
Here's how you'll have an impact:
- Work closely with the Director, Board Relations to prepare for USOPF Board, Committees and Working Group meetings.
- Oversee cross-functional business teams through assigned projects from inception to completion, ensuring they meet aggressive timing, performance, cost, and quality objectives.
- Assist with the management of the CDO’s donor and prospect portfolio. This includes participating in stewardship and solicitation meetings, portfolio moves management and donor-facing interactions.
- Identify strategic opportunities for the USOPC and USOPF; develop and implement key initiatives and priorities. Serve as strategic partner for the CDO with internal and external constituents.
- Support various initiatives and build out processes and infrastructure for the functions in the Development Division. Support internal teams with existing and prospective donors.
- Lead investor outreach and fundraising efforts in partnership with the VP, Institutional Advancement, and the Chief Development Officer.
- In conjunction with the VP, Institutional Advancement and the CDO’s Executive Assistant, develop and implement executive briefing process for the CDO and other USOPC leaders for upcoming prospect, donor, and campaign solicitations.
- Prepare for and attend meetings with the Chief Development Officer to best understand and document action items to achieve division deliverables. Assist division leaders in developing and executing the department- and division-specific operating plan initiatives and deliverables.
- Serve as a thought partner & sounding board for long-term strategy and vision for the division with an operational lens on how to accomplish divisional goals. Partner with the leadership team and other stakeholders to advance key projects and initiatives covering a broad range of areas.
- Enhance the creation and development of forward-facing materials related to the Institutional Advancement team, to include presentation decks, correspondence, etc.
- Oversee strategic business initiatives in the Development division from ideation to implementation. Work with leadership to deliver, monitor and communicate progress towards divisional goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Partner with project leads to ensure that restricted funds are being used appropriately for delivering on program goals, metrics, accountabilities, and milestones as identified. Collaborate to shift project parameters as appropriate based on business need and communicate accordingly with specific department/team lead.
- In collaboration with the Campaign Director, serve as a key partner in supporting campaign-related coordination across the Sport & Athlete Services Division.
Here are the skills and experience you'll need to be effective:
- 8+ years of experience in sport management, fundraising and/or consulting
- Experience in leading internal/external project management systems, from conception through evaluation
- Bachelor’s degree with a preferred emphasis in Sports Management, Business Administration, Communications or Economics or equivalent work experience
- Experience in supporting a high-performing and growing team through complex project management
- Work experience within an advancement or fundraising team a plus

- This is a home-based role that may work from anywhere within the U.S., or a defined location based on business need.
Here's some more information you need to know:
- This is a full-time, exempt position intended to work 40 hours per week.
- Bonus: This position will be eligible for the Annual Incentive Award Program at a 20% target. This program is subject to change or elimination by the USOPC at any time at its sole discretion.
- Hiring Pay Range: $90,513 - $114,952
