Job Description
DIRECTV is seeking a Delivery Management – Principal 2 professional who will champion adoption and continued improvement of agile practices for software development. This strategic leader will drive organizational use of agile software development methodologies as a strategic asset to foster business values. In this role, you will perform tool administrator or super-user function as required, p lan and deliver required coaching, training, and mentoring of teams and stakeholders, and provide Thought Leadership including insight to new and emerging perspectives and point of views on agile and related subjects.


Here's what you’ll do:


  • Define agile program processes across a broad scope, including stakeholder engagement, requirements definition, testing and integration, and monitoring progress.
  • Build agile consulting / coaching aids and use the aids to assist teams with agile on-boarding process.
  • Provide patterns, best practices, and white papers on agile related areas.
  • Review the agile estimating process against outcomes and recommend changes to improve productivity and predictability of outcomes.
  • Remain informed on developments in agile areas of expertise.
  • Provide performance feedback to Agile team member. Assist with the identification, collection, and reporting on Agile Practice metrics and measurements.
  • Establish standard metrics / reports for tracking progress based on agile methods and monitor progress, assess risks based on the reported metrics, and recommend mitigation strategies / process improvements.
  • Based on agile best practices, provide recommendations including identifying program risks and mitigations, and potential process improvements.
  • Conduct retrospectives for qualitative and quantitative improvements as a result of agile coaching.
  • Administer agile team maturity assessments and develop coaching plans accordingly.
  • Develop and deliver presentations to various levels of stakeholders and leaders, and facilitate working sessions to identify resolutions to barriers to scaling use of agile.
  • Think like a transformation / agile change agent / evangelist industry professional – quoting current and extensive industry data and demonstrating ability to apply best practices.
  • Capture work product, insights gained, and intellectual property created into the firm’s knowledge management system.
  • Conduct agile training / lean software development workshops for leaders and team members as needed.
  • Actively work to update / upgrade level of expertise or knowledge.
  • Working with managers and stakeholders to establish processes, ensuring the processes are effective, and refining accordingly.
  • Prepare a variety of communication artifacts related to agile practice events, progress and plans.
  • Recommend tools to be implemented to support agile software development processes.
  • Assist Agile Program Manager and other Agile Practice team members with creating and maintaining collaborative communication sites and tools; launching and facilitating Agile Open Space, Communication Forums, and regular Agile recognition events.
  • Develop processes, templates, artifacts, training materials, and lessons learned.


What you’ll need to be successful:


  • Experience coaching and mentoring software teams on Agile and DevOps process transitions.
  • Experience with organizational change management.
  • Comfortable working and communicating at team, stakeholder, and leadership levels.
  • 10+ years overall general experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in an Agile coach role with exposure to large organizational transformations is required.
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills, coaching and mentorship experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in the use of Agile methodologies and supporting tools.
  • Experience with independently transitioning software teams to a variation of Agile process.
  • Expert in use of agile tools such as Jira and Jira Align.
  • Entrepreneurial mind set; work independently and as an effective team member, take on whatever role is necessary to achieve business objectives and enhance relationships.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills; the ability to manage conflicting priorities and multi-task effectively; and communicate current status and tasks to management.
  • Strong quality orientation.
  • Articulate the value proposition and the business impact of agile transformation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills; ability to determine proper course or methodology without direction or supervision.
  • Solid oral, written, and presentation skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to discuss complex ideas, develop project deliverables, and participate in workshops with senior executives.
  • Handle conflict resolution well, facilitate discussion, alternatives, and different approaches.
  • Ability to think, write and present in a logical and structured way.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, software engineering or a related field, preferred. Advanced degree a plus!
  • Experience in creating Agile training / workshop material.
  • Skilled at using metrics to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Experienced Agile Coach, with SAFe experience across multiple environments.
  • Solid background utilizing Agile frameworks (SAFe, Kanban, Scrum) in software development, certification required (SPOC).
  • Work in cross-organizational situations.
  • This is a highly visible role with exposure to a wide range of stakeholders, requiring a combination of hard technical skills and soft people skills for success.


This is a remote position that can be located anywhere in the United States.


Los Angeles and New York City locations offer flexible in office settings if you desire face to face interaction.

DIRECTV's compensation structure is designed to be market-competitive and fully supports efforts to attract and retain employees. It is the company's policy to offer pay that is competitive with other employers in the local market. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.


The Base Salary range displayed below reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for each of DIRECTV's 4 (four) US Labor Market Zones. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.


DIRECTV WAGE ZONES: $116,375 - $211,255


Low (N1): $116,375 - $174,515


Mid (N2): $122,500 - $183,700


High (N3): $134,750 - $202,070


Top (N4): $140,875 - $211,255
