Job Description
  • Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds).
  • Coordinate the training of new SFST team members.
  • Ability to understand complex problems and to collaborate and explore alternative solutions.
  • Collaborate with SFST team members to staff student cases.
  • Provide individual weekly, bi-monthly or monthly therapy and/or case management to a reduced caseload of students, ages ranging from 4-22 years and caregiver(s) whose child is enrolled in Leander ISD.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Experience providing direct therapy or coaching to guardians.
  • Experience providing direct therapy to school ages clients in a variety of settings.
  • Update and maintain the suicide risk screening process to ensure it continues to meet best practices.
  • Maintain composure and professionalism at all times.
  • Ability to make information presentations, inside and outside the organization.
  • Ability to communicate with individuals utilizing a telephone, computer, or other electronic device.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, multi-priority environment.
  • Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Knowledge of a community resources available in the Leander ISD area.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize own work schedule on short-term basis.
  • Identify professional learning opportunities for the SFST team.
  • Stay current with the mental health trends and needs of the Leander ISD community.
  • Update and maintain the SFST operational manual.
  • Stay current with licensure requirements as established by the Texas Behavioral Health Board.
  • Ability to handle difficult conversations and deescalate employees, staff, and parents.
  • Collaborate with community agencies to support district and community mental health awareness activities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form; and work collaboratively with school staff and community members.
  • Skill in clinical assessment and delivery of school-based individual, group, and family psychotherapy; case management, including assessment and referral to appropriate community resources; public relations; public speaking; and organization.

  • Participate in clinical consultation groups as needed.
  • Valid Texas LCSW, LPC or LMFT license; LCSW-S, LPC-S Preferred
  • Coordinate, manage, and provide clinical support during campus-wide crisis response.
  • Work with the Director of Counseling Services to maintain consistency in SFST practices including clinical decision making and referral documentation.
  • Co-Lead and facilitate SFST team meetings with the Director of Counseling Services.
  • Ability to provide clinical judgment based on appropriate Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council code of ethics and district policies; provide leadership during crisis situations; establish and maintain effective, open communication with students, parents, teachers, and administrators; perform duties both autonomously and collaboratively within a team; interpret laws, policies, and procedures.

  • Collaborate with campus and district administrators to promote mental health awareness and the process for making a SFST referral.
  • Master’s degree in counseling, social work or related field.
  • Develop various supporting documents and procedures for the district relating to student safety, mental health, and wellness.
  • Ability to compose material such as detailed reports, work-related manuals, publications of limited scope or impact and to make presentations outside of the immediate work area.
  • Provide opportunities and activities to maintain team cohesion.
  • Skill in planning and presenting professional learning opportunities for a variety of audiences.
  • Knowledge of and experience providing direct therapy from a wide range of theoretical perspectives/modalities.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.

  • Previous experience providing clinical supervision to fully licensed practitioners and those seeking clinical licensure.
  • Periodically review caseloads of SFST team members and make adjustments to campus assignments as necessary.
