Under the direction of the Division Administrator for Youth and Family Programs within the Division of Prevention and Early Intervention (PEI), this position provides oversight and support for community-based prevention grantees in their implementation of PEI programs. Performs advanced (senior-level) technical assistance work to develop and support programs within the division. This position will provide program support for PEI Youth and Family Programs with a focus on Service Members, Veterans and Families (SMVF). The programs are designed to strengthen youth and families through services such as evidence-based program models, mentoring, parent education, youth skills training, counseling and other family support type programming. Programs aim to promote protective factors, positive youth development, family strengthening, positive parenting skills, as well as increase the development and sustainment of community coalitions for military communities.
Work involves planning, developing, implementing, and advancing program(s) related to strengthen and support service member and veteran families. The position provides consultative services and technical assistance to service providers, other division staff, governmental agencies, community organizations, and the general public. The position also provides guidance and general communication to ensure coordination with DFPS program goals and objectives. Position is involved in program monitoring and oversight to ensure effective and efficient delivery of prevention services to youth and families and identifies areas for program improvement. Work will involve procurement development, interpreting contract requirements, data analysis, as well as serving on internal and external workgroups. The position interacts with areas including contracted prevention service providers, community representatives and state government administrators. The position is also involved with program planning, writing policies and procedures, coordination and facilitation of meetings, conducting site visits, and planning and providing trainings. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in a field relevant to the assignment is generally preferred. Experience and education may be substituted for one another. Experience in child and family services, youth programs, community-based programs, social work, or other prevention programs is desired. Experience interpreting grant or policy requirements is desired. Knowledge of the implementation and planning of services such as evidence-based parent education, and/or working with children and families within community organizations, state or federal agencies is desirable, as well as coalition work or other programming geared toward youth and families is desirable. Experience could also include participating in a multi-week parent education program or counseling; family or youth programming; and passionate about working alongside community-based organizations to support and strengthen outcomes for service member and veteran families. Experience working with youth, families, and/or special populations is desirable. Ability to interpret, organize and present information. Ability to integrate learning, apply new information and knowledge, and instruct others. Ability to communicate clearly in writing and prepare wide variety of written material. Ability to facilitate meetings, train, and provide presentations.
Experience in child, youth and/or family services, social work, youth development, education or other related area. Experience that demonstrates knowledge of program planning and development.
Two years full-time consultative, supervisory, managerial, social service, professional or technical work which must include:
Day to day of position is remote however attendance for at least monthly meetings at headquarter location will be required in addition to ad hoc stakeholder and partner meetings, trainings, events, other gatherings etc.
