Purpose of Position:
1. Consults with medical and professional staff of other departments and staff from associated health care fields to plan and coordinate joint patient and management objectives. Acts as a liaison between the Department of Medical Services and other administrative divisions.
2. Provides administrative supervision for a program of comprehensive health service of professional and non-professional staff involving therapists, counselors and related health personnel.
3. Plans, develops, and may conduct training programs to maintain proficiency of staff and use of new equipment and methods.
4. Allocates staff on basis of workload, space, and available equipment.
5. Supervises the operation of a section of a hospital kitchen, a food distribution and ward serving unit, or a staff dining room or employee cafeteria.
6. Instructs and supervises cooks, dietary aides and other subordinate employees in the preparation, distribution and service of food.
7. Prepares and Issues employee evaluations in a timely manner.
8. Assist and participates in the planning, organization and direction of all kitchen activities.
9. In the absences of an assigned Dietary/Kitchen employee, checks the distribution of breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as the tray assembly line.
10. Make sure that all refrigeration and food temperature are taken and recorded accordingly.
11. Plans and adjusts daily assignment schedule.
12.Performs these duties in addition to others, assigned by the Patient Service Manager, Clinical Nutrition Manager or General Manager.
Minimum Qualifications
1. A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Public Health, Public Administration, Business Administration, Social Work, Psychology or Rehabilitation Counseling; and
2. Two (2) years of full-time experience in medically-oriented health care and medical support systems environment, one (1) year of which included experience in an administrative or supervisory capacity in such occupations as physical, occupational, inhalation, speech and audiology therapy or as Medical/Laboratory Technologist, Microbiologist (various specialties), Chemist (biochemist), Radiation and X-Ray Technician; or two (2) years of responsible level experience in business management systems or general administration including one (1) year in a supervisory or administrative capacity; or
3. A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in disciplines listed in “1” above; and
4. Three (3) years of full-time experience, as described in “2” above, including two (2) years of experience in an administrative or supervisory capacity in occupations, as listed in “2” above; or
5. A satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
