TITLE: Communications & Development Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Director of Development
BASIC FUNCTION: Nonprofit New York’s Communications & Development Coordinator is a clear, direct, highly-motivated person with at least two years of nonprofit communications experience. As our Communications & Development Coordinator, you will be responsible for enhancing and expanding Nonprofit New York’s communications content and strategy under the guidance of the Development Director, which includes creating compelling, data-driven content for our website and social media platforms, and helping boost awareness of Nonprofit New York and our many offerings that support the nonprofit sector. You will also assist with fund development, relationship cultivation, information and data management, and earned revenue programs.
CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt

With a Board representing key nonprofit subsectors, and a staff of ten employees, Nonprofit New York operates on a budget of approximately $2 million per year. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Content Creation & Management
- Create all communications-related content under the guidance of the Development Director and in collaboration with other team members including newsletters, event announcements, appeals, flyers, annual reports, press releases, blogs, etc.
- Lead projects focused on growing Nonprofit New York's presence across all social platforms, driving engagement, and customizing content based on our community's preference
- Ensure all communications reflect the organization’s commitment to DEIA and are aligned with our values and brand identity
- Manage, update, and optimize Nonprofit New York's website to ensure an accurate reflection of available programs, resources, and opportunities available
- Analyze and report on metrics for all communications efforts across all platforms and make recommendations to increase reach and engagement
Project Management
- Develop and maintain a current media database and work with leadership to identify media opportunities
- Assist Development Director in stewarding relationships with individual donors, business members and sponsors, including tasks such as handling requests, tracking deliverables, and generating invoices
- Collaborate with various departments across the organization to create targeted marketing plans for membership, capacity building, and policy
- Manage all paid and in-kind advertising campaigns
- Liaise with external vendors for photography, graphic design, printing, public relations, etc.
Fund Development
- Assist with outreach efforts to grow earned revenue programs, including job board, knowledge center reports, event registration, retirement savings program, space ads, etc.
- Develop and maintain a prospect database for various programs, including philanthropic membership, corporate sponsorship, and community partners
- Draft development-related communications, including thank you letters for donors, partners, and volunteers
- Identify and track opportunities for in-kind donations
Also, additional duties as agreed to with the Development Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Skills & Experience
- Salesforce experience a plus
- At least 2 years of professional work experience in a similar role
- Strong writing, presentation, and communication skills
- Demonstrated experience with online marketing tools, social media platforms, and email campaign management, such a s Constant Contact, Linkedin, and Twitter
- Experience with project management involving other team members
- Knowledge of G-Suite is a plus
- Knowledge of Asana is a plus
- Experience with Canva and WordPre ss are a plus
- Demonstrated understanding of the role that racial inequity plays in our society and its impact on institutions

SALARY: $55,000 to $65,000 per year, commensurate with experience. Excellent working environment and generous benefits (health insurance, dental, vision, paid-time off, sick days, 401(k) retirement plan with 5% match contributions).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position is primarily a sedentary role. However, the person in this position may need to occasionally move about inside the office to liaise with internal staff and access files and office machinery. We anticipate that this position will be expected to work in the office at least two days a week and remotely the remainder of the time.
