Overview
SRA is looking for an experienced candidate to join our Career Development team as a Career Development Program Lead. This is an important early career position with the unique opportunity to lead both vital external facing partnership work, as well as student facing career support. Reporting to the Career Development Program Manager, the Career Development Lead will play a leadership role in the department’s Internship Program, communicating and collaborating with various SRA stakeholders including students, College & Career Advisors, department managers, and external community members. This person will also support student facing services and programming including, but not limited to reviewing and offering feedback for students’ internship application materials, host interview practice sessions with students, support planning and execution of workshops, and creation and maintenance of career related resources. This is a highly collaborative position with opportunities for leadership and growth within the position and team.
SRA is a growing organization; candidates will need to be flexible and interested in assuming additional duties resulting from expansion.
SRA is currently working 100% remotely with opportunities to meet in person with adherence to SRA’s In-person Meeting policies. Candidates should live in the Bay Area or be willing to travel at their own expense for in-person meetings. SRA does not employ staff who live outside of the state of California.
Key Responsibilities
Internship Program Implementation
  • In collaboration with the Career Development Program Manager, lead program implementation, including but not limited to development of appropriate educational materials/resources, program onboarding of students and Advisors, support program evaluation, data collection, and continued improvement
  • Collaborate with the Career Development Program Manager to achieve Internship Program goals and objectives, as well as meet overall Career Development goals and metrics
  • Own a caseload of approximately 75 external partners/members of SRA’s network of employers as their direct point of contact for the Internship Program, and serve as a liaison to other SRA programming and efforts
Student Engagement
  • Providing interview practice to students
  • Managing a caseload of approximately 250 students, specifically high school seniors, 1st year college students, and 2nd year college students
  • Regularly communicate with SRA students and SRA College & Career Advisors to establish rapport and build meaningful relationships that will translate into active engagement with Career Development programming and internship opportunities
  • Assist SRA College & Career Advisors in their work with their students to provide career coaching and secure internships/employment opportunities by:
  • Reviewing students’ application materials (resume, cover letters, essays, etc.)
  • Serve as a career services resource to College & Career Advisors
Career Development Program Implementation
  • Lead other Career Development related efforts and duties as assigned
  • Regularly communicate and meet with members of the SRA network, including developing synergistic, cross-functional relationships with potential funders/supporters, and bringing in other SRA staff when appropriate
  • Support the Career Development Program Lead in planning and execution of career development, age-specific workshops
  • Organize, track, and compile information and data in Salesforce, Asana, Google Drive, etc.
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • 2-3 years relevant experience in career services, counseling of young adults, student services personnel, human resources, volunteer engagement, community engagement or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working and collaborating with a variety of stakeholders in a nonprofit of education setting preferred; experience working with external stakeholders (such as volunteers, alum relations, development, customer service, etc.)
  • Self directed, highly organized and motivated; deadline driven
  • Experience and/or knowledge of education, higher education, and college access and success ecosystem and working with first-generation college students preferred
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Excellent judgment and ability to coach students through difficult situations
  • Experience planning and leading workshops and/or college-age student facing events
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; enjoy working remotely
  • Access to a reliable car and/or the ability to transport yourself to the Bay Area at least 4x/year for in-person events
  • Proficient in creating and editing effective resumes, cover letters and other job application materials
  • Must live in California
  • Available to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings as needed
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of Salesforce and Asana is a plus
Compensation
SRA offers a competitive salary and benefits package that is rooted in pay parity and market research. The salary range for this position is $62,000-$66,000 depending on experience.
