BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER Salary Range $62,649.60 - $97,094.40

Description:

The goal of the manager is to support the Vice President of Business Development in attraction efforts and to enhance the performance of the business retention and expansion efforts of the Greenville ENC Alliance. This will require a combination of business outreach, project management, and service delivery. This position will work closely with the Vice President of Business Development on executing the goals and initiatives of the strategic plan to spur economic growth and prosperity to the Greenville – Pitt County, North Carolina MSA.

Essential Job Functions:

- The business development manager will support economic development related matters in the areas of business attraction, retention, and project management.

- Will support the Vice President of Business Development with business attraction efforts by assisting with site visits, conducting research on prospective new leads, assisting with company contacts for trade shows, and planning for mission trips and conferences.

- Will continue to strengthen relationships with existing companies in the Greenville/Pitt County community by finding ways to increase and enhance growth.

- Lead and/or support project management. Will include leading coordination between multiple departments or agencies to map out and align processes, timelines, and strategy for finalizing project scope and execution.

- Will partner with county and state entities to assist with outreach and existing industry project management and preparation for incentive proposals from local and state funders.

- Will represent the Greenville ENC Alliance at relevant local, regional, and state organization meetings, trade shows, conferences, and events.

- Participate on behalf of the Alliance in statewide initiatives that impact growth and facilitate an increased interest in our region and state.

Additional Functions:

- Performs other related duties as required

Desired Experience:

- Experience building alliances to develop collaborative relationships

- Knowledge of academic and industry environments and culture, and ability to translate and match needs and capabilities

- Experience and/or demonstrated comfort working with C-suite executives, university leaders, and governmental agencies to influence and impact business investment and economic development decisions

- Demonstrated experience working with public-private partnerships, economic development initiatives, or with local, state, and national stakeholders and partners

- Business development, project management, program management experience highly preferred

Minimum Qualifications: -

- Bachelor’s degree in research, analytics, business intel, or related fields. Masters’ level attractive

- At least two (2) years working experience preferred with project examples

- Working knowledge of trends in economic development, collaborations of public-private partnerships, and support from institutions of higher learning

- Superior communication, organizational and interpersonal skills with an attention to detail.

- Tech savvy – expert level with research portals, SaaS, and open-source mining (i.e. BLS, Esri, Emsi/Lightcast, and others)

- Expert level with Microsoft Excel and/or Tableau tools

Detail- oriented and highly organized

Availability Requirements:

- This position is located in our Greenville, North Carolina office with a typical week being in the office Monday through Thursday with a hybrid workday on Friday.

- Office/home flexibility is permitted when management has ability to provide options.

- You must be present at our office during the required in-office workdays.

- The position may entail occasional on-site visits to a client’s facility, which could be a manufacturing, distribution, or similar industrial environment.

- Domestic and international travel may occasionally be required.

Special License(s) or Certification(s) Required:

- Must have and maintain a valid NC driver’s license
