Responsibilities


Under general supervision of the Vice President of IT, the Associate Vice President of IT oversees multiple critical IT operational services including infrastructure services, cloud and systems services, enterprise applications development, web and mobile services, the IT Help Center services, desktop and classroom support services, and data analytics. The incumbent manages digital transformation initiatives and innovation projects, and facilitates IT’s efforts to achieve operational excellence.


  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Works with other members of the senior leadership team to establish technology roadmaps, build long-range financial plans, and implement initiatives to apply technology in support of CSUN’s strategic priorities.
  • Assists the University community to leverage technology to improve the student experience and support effective University operations, and provides strategic and tactical leadership to the University with regards to current and future technology solutions.
  • Extends and improves the levels of Information Technology services for CSUN students, faculty, and staff in support of the University’s mission.

Qualifications


  • Management experience in an information technology organization serving multiple stakeholders with diverse technology and support service needs required.
  • Equivalent to graduation from an accredited institution with a Bachelor’s degree in a job-related field. Master’s degree, preferred.
  • Equivalent to six (6) years of progressively responsible professional/administrative experience required; with three of the six years in a managerial role.
  • Experience successfully managing the implementation of complex projects requiring technology and organizational change, successfully overseeing technology budgets negotiating, overseeing vendor partnership, and in higher education IT all strongly preferred.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Leadership


  • Ability to demonstrate: experience with leading complex IT infrastructure and IT services initiatives, as well as technology governance leadership at organizational scale; effective written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing and presenting information clearly and concisely to a wide-range of internal, external and customer constituents, including technical and non-technical executives; experience using project management skills in an information technology environment.
  • Lead varying initiatives through a collaborative, service-oriented and communicative approach.
  • Lead diverse teams to support the operational mission and vision of employers by fostering an ethical, inclusive and collegial work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to support ongoing improvement through courageous, resilient, and catalytic leadership.
  • Ability to demonstrate: strong organizational, supervisory, and interpersonal skills needed to work effectively with a wide variety of internal and external resources; strong leadership skills with a proven track record of building and leading strong teams; strong decision-making skills, ability to rely on data for informing decisions.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule


  • The position is currently hybrid (2 days in office, 3 days remote); however, this is subject to change based on student and/or operational needs.
  • The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $195,000 - $205,008 annually, dependent upon qualifications and experience.
  • Salary is commensurate with knowledge, skills, and experience. The University offers excellent fringe benefits.
